If it was just them involved for instance because why waste time on people who have no regard for not only their safety but that of others. Of course this hasnt actually happened but I cant help thinking like this when someone is acting like a complete dick overtaking in dangerous places etc driving way too fast.

Why is everyone answering my OP as if I DID drive off at the scene of an accident ffs...I asked if it is unreasonable to THINK not DO.

OP posts:
Rockbird · 13/06/2010 18:40

No, people, much better to pass on by with a smug smile on one's face and think, 'Ha! I could have helped you, but I didn't so there! Aren't you sorry now?!'

JackBauerDeservedAHappyEnding · 13/06/2010 18:41

Because even thinking it is a bit heartless really.
The boy on the bike overtook me at a ridiculous speed, nearly putting us into a hedge when I swerved in shock. I thoguht he was a complete twat. Still stopped though.

Okay, you have had a fright, that's fair enough, it's horrible when you have a near miss, but think about what you want us all to agree with.

TrappedinSuburbia · 13/06/2010 18:41

Ah, you've divulged some more info.
I think you've had a real fright today and are understandly reacting angrily to it.

RedRedWine1980 · 13/06/2010 18:42

And well yes i must be such a heartless bitch as when some moron overtook me on the duel carriageway at 50mph when I was purposely going slowly due to the freshly settled snow and he spun narrowly clipping my car I stopped to see if he was okay...

Although when he was I couldnt help but have zero sympathy for the idiot especially as I was driving carefully due to having my small child in the car.

LittleMissHissyFit · 13/06/2010 18:42

RRW1980, thank god there are more people that think like I do and none less that think like you.

YABU to say that you wouldn't stop and help someone in an accident.

I'd hate to know anyone that cold and heartless.

Rockbird · 13/06/2010 18:43

Because that's the way you worded your title. Of course it's not unreason to be pissed off but I wouldn't hesitate to stop no matter how the accident had happened, I wouldn't even think about not stopping.

Sn0wflake · 13/06/2010 18:43

It's illegal and not very nice. YABU.

LetThereBeRock · 13/06/2010 18:44

YABVVU.

expatinscotland · 13/06/2010 18:44

I can see not stopping because it is unsafe - the accident has happened in a place where stopping might cause another accident or there is no layby, or you saw it on the other side of the motorway adn obviously can't cross, for example.

But surely you'd stop as soon as possible and at least ring 999?

RedRedWine1980 · 13/06/2010 18:44

Well come on its no worse than those who think they'd like to murder their spouse when they find they've been cheating...doesnt mean they do it really does it?

OP posts:
Gigantaur · 13/06/2010 18:45

actually what you propose is not only disgracefull behaviour but also illegal.

RedRedWine1980 · 13/06/2010 18:46

Littlemiss I didnt say I wouldnt stop did I- I said THOUGHT...try and find someone else to spoil for a fight with because im not rising to it.

OP posts:
TrillianAstra · 13/06/2010 18:46

The way you worded your title and your OP, yes, you came across as a heartless bitch.

We can only answer you based on the information you give us.

AMumInScotland · 13/06/2010 18:47

If you mean "If I saw him unharmed and in no danger at the side of the road having damaged his car, I wouldn't stop to help" then I understand your point of view. If you mean "If I couldn't tell if he or anyone else needed urgent assistance" then not OK.

TrappedinSuburbia · 13/06/2010 18:48

Ok relax, op is just venting after after the reality of how dangerous some wanker behind a wheel can be (right op)?

Doesn't mean she would actually do it, she's obviously sat down and thought about the events of the day and is now fuming.

RedRedWine1980 · 13/06/2010 18:49

Maybe it sounds heartless but I dont really have a lot of heart with people who take such risks with the lives of other people, maybe they dont care whether they live or die but its not fair for others to be caught up in their carelessness.

OP posts:
toccatanfudge · 13/06/2010 18:50

actually redredwine - I despise people saying that out loud stuff like that as well.

GypsyMoth · 13/06/2010 18:51

when i was a police officer i had to help people who had comitted crimes. i had to protect a paedophile also. make sure he wasn't hurt/attacked when he was in the community....we all have to do things we dont feel comfortable with....its called a civilised society

Marne · 13/06/2010 18:51

Red- i was thinking the other day (after some twat almost crashed due to over taking on the bend), if he had crashed and the person he crashed into was also injured, who would i go to first? the twat who caused the accident or the person they hit?

KurriKurri · 13/06/2010 18:51

So are you saying If you saw someone in an accident of their own making you would think 'I won't stop' but stop anyway? or are you saying you wouldn't stop? Your meaning is not very clear.

RedRedWine1980 · 13/06/2010 18:52

Oh have a gold star Toccata for never having an impure thought about anyone in your life

OP posts:
tethersend · 13/06/2010 18:52

Thing is RedRedWine, I don't think you would actually drive by if this happened... even though the thought crossed your mind today.

Your thoughts are private and cannot possibly be unreasonable; they are your thoughts.

Well, they are until you put them on the AIBU section of an internet forum of course

toccatanfudge · 13/06/2010 18:53

no - I didn't say that I'd never have an impure thought, but I said I despise people saying thoughts like that out loud (or writing it down for public consumption)

You are complaining that people aren't reading your posts properly - well try reading mine.

Gigantaur · 13/06/2010 18:54

so you came and asked would it be unreasonable, you are told that yes it would be and given reasons why, and so now you have got in a little huff because despite you not actually putting it in your op you feel aggreived at being over taken.

if youwant people to answer bareing in mind the full facts them give them in your OP. dont try and justify yourself b drip feeding the thread once people have told you your a twunt
