they have had a lovely day today - a friend over all day, a water fight with water bombs and water pistols followed by fluffy dressing gowns and hot pizza, played on the Wii with their friend, then watched the world cup and had treats (choc chip muffins and pringles ) to munch during the game

for some reason they have behaved atrociously for the past hour and a half

ds1 was so rude and disrespectful we told him he needed to be quiet so we could watch the football, or take himself off to bed - several warnings

he snarled "Oh FINE I'm off to bed then" to which we replied "Night then, don't forget to brush your teeth"

when he realised we weren't going to invite him back down again he threw an enormous screaming tantrum and unrolled all the toilet rolls down the stairs

ds2 then went to bed and jumped on the top bunk (which he has been warned about endlessly) and has broken it, so he is sleeping on the floor

they are both crying and wailing and ds1 is still being rude as well

ds2 is supposed to be going on a jud course tomorrow morning, neither of us want to bloody well get up early and take him now

I am upset and furious

and dh is ashen and silent again, I know he feels rotten because he lost it and screamed at them when he saw the toilet rolls

we are shit parents, aren;t we?

i knew that really

coupleofkooks nice bowie-inspired name, made me smile and sing and tap my feet!

I said to my mum once ages ago that I used to like the fact that when were young we would go out every Sunday for a drive in the country and walk in the woods and get an ice cream on the way home. She looked at me quite blankly and said that we didn't go every Sunday, just when there were bluebells.
Just shows you how skewed your memories are as children, mostly boring stuff, but the good stuff really stands out.

Your thread title reminded me of a children's nursery story, and they can be extremely dark!

Butterbur · 13/06/2010 17:15

Y only BU if you actually do it.

I often felt like pushing mine out of the car and leaving them on the side of the motorway.

I thought every parent sometimes felt the same. Obviously not the sanctimonious Mumsnet brigade.

Tortington · 13/06/2010 17:31

this thread has actually restored my faith in parenting and mumsnet.

parenting in that greeny always has the best advice and its great she got some laughs here

and in mumsnet becuase there have been some classic answers esp victoria and fuzzy.

oldenglishspangles · 13/06/2010 17:52

Have to agree with custardo this thread reminds me of why I joined mumsnet all the years ago. {apart from someone reporting the thread title )

How big is the bag oh green one?
I have someone I would like to put in it

mamasparkle · 13/06/2010 18:21

It's not people being sanctimonious and humourless, it's just a creepy, unfunny, weird thing to write about your own children.

mamasparkle · 13/06/2010 18:22

"There are always posters bleating on about how Mumsnet's not like it was in the 'good old days', but today, for the first time, I know exactly what they mean and I'm frightened for our future"

How sad that you actually care that much about a website!!!I think mumsnet is far too important to a lot of posters on here - it's a way of life it seems.

cory · 13/06/2010 18:24

raises glass to victoria & co.

if there was ever to be a consensus that gratuitous threats are not to be allowed, I too should have to leave Mumnset and spend more time with my children

waits for shuddering to be reported>

RunawayWife · 13/06/2010 18:26

I do not think anyone thought for one moment that Greeney was going to bag up her off spring and lob them off a bridge in to the river.

Calm down

TrappedinSuburbia · 13/06/2010 18:28

yanbu, unless you actually chuck them in the river lol.

I remember after days like this when I was young, my mum always used to say 'this will end in tears' don't know why great days end up like this with kids, but she was usually right.

RedRedWine1980 · 13/06/2010 18:30

I reckon if for example I had created a thread of this title i'd get shit for it ....

CoupleofKooks · 13/06/2010 18:36

but she HAS got shit for it
loads of shit for it
what do you want, her head on a plate?

RedRedWine1980 · 13/06/2010 18:38

Has she? All I can see is a load of regulars saying 'aww of course she doesnt mean it'

RunawayWife · 13/06/2010 18:40

I often tell my children I am selling them to the Gypsies for 50p and some clothes pegs, I never have/would

darkandstormy · 13/06/2010 18:42

all kids are shits from time to time.I personally wish I could afford a full time nanny for this reason.

Rockbird · 13/06/2010 18:45

That's not true RRW, I laughed when I saw the title, before I clicked on it and saw the poster. Anything as extreme as that is obviously written in jest otherwise we'd have some pretty big problems here.

muckpuppet · 13/06/2010 18:57

I would add my children to your bag, but I've already packed them in a box and posted them to Grandma's house.

CoupleofKooks · 13/06/2010 18:58

so the 'regulars' were just responding to thin air were they? or was there in fact some other posters firstly giving out shit?

greeny i have another better idea for the lucky dip
print out things from the toymaker and roll up each sheet of paper and tie with a ribbon
they can cut them out and make them at home, they are so nice

BusyMissIzzy · 13/06/2010 18:59

Adding myself to the "obviously a joke and therefore not offensive" camp. And I'm a relative newbie and don't know the OP, so it's not favouritism or anything.

I laughed at the title too before I knew who had posted the thread, I mean come on anyone who thinks she really is going to do it is a bit simple really.

I don't care if the OP is here every day has been for years or joined today.
