Nuttybear · 27/05/2010 08:09

I think they look silly unless everyone calls your girl 'what a lovely boy' ON the other hand just dress them in pink that hould do it!

Sexonlegs · 27/05/2010 08:10

Hate them.

notso · 27/05/2010 10:37

PMSL at the comment from the Mom of twins on that bows site saying the bows were a lifesaver, as if she was actually on the verge of death because her babies bows wouldn't stay on.

janajos · 27/05/2010 10:50

What I find chavvy is the inability to spell the word their correctly!!

their -belonging to them
there- over there

janajos · 27/05/2010 10:52

Sorry should make it clear this is directed at those responding to the post, not the post itself

pingviner · 27/05/2010 11:16

I just cannot belive that this has not been posted yet

Convert your shild to a freakish troll doll with one overpriced product! Forget hairbands or stick on bows - heres a toupee for your little girl. Because shes such a perfect princess that you just cant accept the fact shes got no hair yet

I actually went through the whole site thinking it must be a piss-take but apparently theres a patent pending for them

pingviner · 27/05/2010 11:21

ahem, 'child'

Nuttybear · 27/05/2010 11:53

Only in America

shipsladyg · 27/05/2010 12:27

Awful things. Can't stand them. Probably even more than I hate babies dressed up in clothes with animal ears on them. It's BABY - not a bear, bee, butterfly, tiger, ladybird etc. If you want a cuddly toy, go and buy one.

Pink on a girl - so tedious. I can't stand pink.

And I don't like the "little monster" or "here comes trouble" or the equivalent on little boys clothes. Awful to be labelling a child in such a negative way.

Suziewee · 27/05/2010 13:39

OMG Pingviner - is that for real? I despair I really do. Pierced ears as well, give me strength.

thumbwitch · 27/05/2010 14:33

pingviner - it's been posted already, sorry.

Did everyone see that you can actually get a wig attached to your baby's headband?

She seems to have a knack of finding these things! (sorry the link doesn't come through with C&P but it's the same one)

Still nasty in the extreme!

petisa · 27/05/2010 15:18

And in Spain. Where I live in southern Spain ALL little girls have their ears pierced as babies. The midwife does it at the hospital or you can go to the chemist's.

thumbwitch · 27/05/2010 15:44

Ah yes - I was taken to Spain as a 2yo (loooong time ago) - everyone commented on what a lovely little boy I was because I did not have pierced ears.
(I still don't - regardless of cultural practices/traditions I still hate the thought of bits of metal going through bits of flesh )

Katyathegringa · 27/05/2010 16:24

Shipsladyg - you may find this of interest

shipsladyg · 27/05/2010 17:03

Why advertise here (and you have to pay to advertise btw) when if you'd read the thread properly you'd see everyone hates the blardy things?!

Netmums is that way >>>>>>

scatteredbraincells · 16/08/2010 08:31

went on a holiday to turkey a few years ago with a few collegues and all dc, the youngest baby in the group was 6mo and was wearing a horrible pink hairband on her bald head. Now my issue with this isn't simply aesthetic. It was 39 degrees and the poor little girl's head was covered in "sweat-spots" all around the hairband, but then she was also wearing a cardigan because "she's a baby, might catch a cold"!!!!

btw, I'm with janajos, well put Grin

For all those who don't like hair decorations - what do you do for a baby girl who's hair is in her eyes, but she's too little to sit still for a hair cut?

I don't particularly like having to put hair clips in my daughters hair, but I like it a lot more than her screaming because her hair is hanging in her eyes and the terrible result when I tried to trim her hair so it was short enough not to bother her.

NarkyPuffin · 16/08/2010 16:03

I really hate the 'to show she's a girl' logic.I think that the 'pink' thing has gotten a lot worse in recent years too. It's as if it's no longer enough for people to be arsey about boys playing with dolls or prams, now gender stereotyping means your girl has to be jetwashed in pink.

And I know little girls often like pink, but it's not the newborn that's choosing travel systems or baby slings or hair bands/bows.

It's not that long ago that all babies wore dresses- think christening gown type outfits. It's just more stuff to buy because most people who buy pink stuff won't use it for boys.

RonansMummy · 16/08/2010 16:08

they look ridiculous! same with ear piercing on babies, yuck!

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 16/08/2010 16:19

my dd has hairbands and i do put her small silly tufts up. it grows very bizarely and the hairband holds the fringe back, dd is 20mnths though.

i have spent the past 20mnths having people assume my sons the GIRL and daughters a boy, theyre are in gender appropriate clothes, ds just has more hair so when dds grew enough for a hairband to have use i got excited,

yabu, fair enough not your choice but each to their own

RonansMummy · 16/08/2010 16:25

but you must admit it looks ridiculous when they are completely bald!
