lucie, I said it because scary's first and second responses to people telling her that the picture was a re-creation of a scene of Nazi brutalization of women, were:

'How do you know it's a male dog?'

and

'I don't think it's an aggressor, it's a guard dog'.

Which both, to me, seemed to completely miss the point. When someone has just told you that the Nazis did something very similar to what has been posed in a picture you thought harmless, the first reaction of any decent person should be shock.

luciemule · 22/04/2010 21:41

scurry - why don't you confirm with the photographer exactly what the picture was portaying - then, you'll either feel elated because you were correct or you'll realise that it was harmless fun after all.

AnyFucker · 22/04/2010 21:43

And of course, lucie, you are entitled to your opinion and I would not dream of trying to change your mind

luciemule · 22/04/2010 21:44

scary (and me tbh), were explaining that the picture could indeed be harmless fun and the creators may not have realised how similar it looked to what you describe.

JaneS · 22/04/2010 21:45

'scurry - why don't you confirm with the photographer exactly what the picture was portaying - then, you'll either feel elated because you were correct or you'll realise that it was harmless fun after all.'

Does that matter so much? If I were the photographer, and someone told me about the parallel with dogs in the Nazi camps, I would be horrified that I'd unknowingly recreated that. I wouldn't think it was an excuse at all, certainly not 'harmless fun'.

But then ... I'd have fallen at the first hurdle with 'naked women against fence with guard dog'.

scurryfunge · 22/04/2010 21:45

Don't need to...it's obvious!

AnyFucker · 22/04/2010 21:47

come on, lucie...ignorance is not a defence

the creators of that picture (and it will be a man) will know exactly the effect they were aiming for...

the women who posed for that want their heads examined...stupid mares

hf128219 · 22/04/2010 21:51

Those women posed for the picture with the best intentions.

AnyFucker · 22/04/2010 21:57

they really should think fist though, shouldn't they

intentions...great

find some other way that doesn't damage women...even better

AnyFucker · 22/04/2010 21:58

lol at my freudian slip there

luciemule · 22/04/2010 22:02

Okay - so have looked up the ss dog history and yes - disgusting and horrific.

However, do you honestly think that the british army would purposely photogrpah a calendar replicating such a horrific act where millions of jewish people were killed and for which our soldiers fought and lost their lives, for a charity calendar? I don't think so.
Sometimes, things are just as transparent as they appear and nothing more.

AnyFucker · 22/04/2010 22:03

I repeat...ignorance is not a defence

hf128219 · 22/04/2010 22:04

AF - looking closer those women don't exactly look very bright do they?

No double fists firsts there I should say.

southeastastra · 22/04/2010 22:06

wtf get a life

vile? lol seriously get something else to worry about

AnyFucker · 22/04/2010 22:07

their arses look very bright

hf128219 · 22/04/2010 22:09

There was previous talk of sexual harassment in the Forces - I think Carmen?

Is it not a least 10% of serving female personnel have been sent home from war zones pregnant? Well that's the ones we know about anyway. And no, we are not talking sexual assault or rape.

RedRedWine1980 · 22/04/2010 22:10

Wow- I always find 'get a life' such an enlightening point of view in a debate...

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 22/04/2010 22:10

I don't get your point, hf, sorry

hf128219 · 22/04/2010 22:13

Actually I am not sure what I am talking about either. I have only skimmed this thread.

SweetGrapes · 22/04/2010 22:13

I don't really see how anyone can defend that picture.
It's the only one where you show the other side.
All the others are washing the trucks or sun bathing or doing something which can be taken as innocent fun and for a minute you can ignore the fact that there is an 'other side' in the war too.

I haven't seen schidlers list and I didn't know the Nazi thing but I didn't like that picture either. The others didn't bother me - but that one does. It reminded me of the G Bay ones with that american woman soldier.

AnyFucker · 22/04/2010 22:14

hf, have a glass of wine

hf128219 · 22/04/2010 22:21

I think I might do that It's the stress of being a Forces Wife!

scaryteacher · 22/04/2010 22:52

Mal - I am well aware of Forces humour, I have been around it for 44 years and married to it for 24, so I think I know how it works.

The photo reminded you of Schindlers List, however, it didn't ring that bell with me, which is why I wasn't shocked or horrified by it.

"I also object the idea that is peddled around that if you don't play along with ladeez getting their tits as "empowering" then you are repressed, humourless and don't like sex " Just as I object to the idea that because I don't agree with you on this calendar that I am uneducated, naive and not a decent person. It is also the choice of these girls to get their tits out. If that makes them feel empowered, then?

Sexism is an unpleasant fact of life that you have to deal with and either not dignify with a response or use legislation.

AnyFucker · 22/04/2010 22:57

scary...you have quoted me (fine) but then attributed some further comments about you to me

I have called you naive, but not uneducated or a less-than-decent person

don't lump all the comments together as if I wrote them all, you are misrepresenting me for effect

hf128219 · 22/04/2010 23:02

At the end of the day these ladies got their jugs out for a very good cause. They raised a lot of money.

They are happy, Help for Heroes is delighted and what a load of women think of it on an internet forum is actually quite irrevelant.
