Unfortunately it appears that Huntley will survive.

AIBU in thinking that it's a pity that the harm caused to Huntley wasn't fatal?

yes very. but i have made my point on the other thread. wish i had joined this one instead as at least there is some ability to think rather than just react demonstrated here.

SuSylvester · 21/03/2010 22:26

i have been to the Valhalla in bavaria many times

shockers · 21/03/2010 22:26

Justice in this country does not condone murder by revenge. If we agree to that then we go back several centuries.
Never released, yes...but murdered by another sex offender?
How is that justice when such a person would take credit?
The whole subject makes my skin crawl.

wannaBe · 21/03/2010 22:27

Oh come on let's not pretend you were after a debate about the merrits of keeping long-term offenders in prison. You posted here thinking that people would say "oh yes, you're right, well done that rapest," but instead you've shown yourself to be a paid-up member of the vijilanti mob.

I find it interesting that you would never advocate putting a dog to sleep for attacking someone and would instead opt for rehabilitation yet your feelings don't extend as far as humans.

Quattrocento · 21/03/2010 22:27

Oh I'm disappointed. I thought for a minute that you were going to regale us with tales of Asgard.

wastwinsetandpearls · 21/03/2010 22:28

Can we not merge these two threads as we did with all the Maddeleine McCann muck raking ones?

Why people want murderers and rapists dealing out justice is beyond me, hardly the mark of a civilised society

SuSylvester · 21/03/2010 22:28

SuSylvester · 21/03/2010 22:29

all bock bier anstich and bier gardens with radishes

Vallhala · 21/03/2010 22:29

QC - all of those, but for Mothers in Law only.

MillyR I'm not speaking on the behalf of the families and I have no links to Huntley (or for that matter his partner). I don't care to add more for personal reasons.

I personally would rather the man dead. And no, I don't ever read the Daily Mail, fyi.

OP posts:
SuSylvester · 21/03/2010 22:30

have you ever been to Valhalla
or drunk Bock bier?

Quattrocento · 21/03/2010 22:31

Wake up dear. You are on MN dealing with vigilantes who want to see murderers and rapists cutting other murderers and rapists throats.

Although sunny Bavaria would be nicer.

ShadeofViolet · 21/03/2010 22:31

ra29needsabettername actually all you did on the other thread was tell us all how Baby Peter would be Ian Huntley in 20 years time, which isnt actually relevant.

OP - YANBU, I dont care who attacked him, just the fact that he did.

bibbitybobbityhat · 21/03/2010 22:32

Oh Su, I might have to resurrect my "I want to go on holiday to Bavaria" thread for your sage advice.

Vallhala · 21/03/2010 22:32

Wannabe you're right. No question about it, I have far more sympathy for animals who are considered not to know any better than I have for human aggressors.

(Just thought I'd put my hands up to that before anyone jumped on that comment). ;)

OP posts:
Quattrocento · 21/03/2010 22:32

Though what radishes have to do with remembrance of things past I don't know ...

Salted, were they?

MillyR · 21/03/2010 22:32

If you have no links to the victims' families then you cannot know whether the emotional costs to them are greater if he is kept alive or killed by the state.

SuSylvester · 21/03/2010 22:32

has anyoen mentioend maddieleine maccan yet

SuSylvester · 21/03/2010 22:33

Lionstar · 21/03/2010 22:36

So valhalla and violet, you'd rather the man was dead do you. And that would be OK would it, because you are mild mannered, reasonable humans. And your personal justice can be meted out by some other random degenerate rapist is just tickety-boo.

Anyone see anything wrong with this picture??

Quattrocento · 21/03/2010 22:38

Sterling work on the other thread, Lionstar.

ShadeofViolet · 21/03/2010 22:38

Actually if it was up to me the state would have executed him already

But thats a whole other thread!

2shoes · 21/03/2010 22:39

SuSylvester aah thought I had heard of it
the radishes(oh I like them) threw me
