Lady Gaga's new vid...

www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQ95z6ywcBY&feature=PlayList&p=C4B9C7326E087E89&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL& index=1

I personally love Lady Gaga, but felt very uncomfortable when this came on the tv today, my little sister was visiting and I had to switch it over. I watched the video online and loved it, but I can't believe they are showing it during the day. The only thing missing from the edited version is the swearing and the close up of her lady bits!

World gone mad

I love it though.

BitOfFun, apologies there.
i know it's all pervasive, and you cant really control what your kids watch at their friends houses/on mobiles etc.
well...technically you could but youd be a complete overbearing maniac.
but i'd saying you could protect them from it in your own home, where they are most of the time at a young age.
i thought the main consumption of this stuff would be TV/Radio, both of whic you can control in your home. you may not hide it from them forever, but i think most parents would be surprised what they actually [non-deliberately] let their kids see in their own homes.

Dittany- i'd appreciate it better if i knew what it meant im sure explain for me?

paisleyleaf · 16/03/2010 17:10

"again, i ask, who can show me one way in which lady gaga herself and her record/publicity company market her at children?"

I'd said: "I assumed Lady Gaga's audience was children"
not that she's writing for children - but that most of her fanbase would be children.
I'm sure she would like to think that her audience is cooler than little girls making up dances or singing in the mirror - but it's children I've seen enjoying her music.

She's as much about girl power as the Spice Girls.

(Why would a parent encourage a 7 year old to learn the words to that Rude Boy song)?

daftpunk · 16/03/2010 17:13

I didn't say lady gaga wasn't "cool"...(do people still use that word..?)

I said she wasn't "right on" musically...

Any serious artist doesn't want 8 yr old girls as their core audience...

TiggyD · 16/03/2010 17:16

Firstly, I watched the video a few minutes ago and I have completely forgotten the song. It's dreadful. Totally unmemorable. Rubbish.

The video should be for 18 years plus and only shown after kiddies have gone to bed. I like nudity, lesbianism, murder and BDSM as much as the next person but there's a time and a place for it.

this is from an interview with Jimmy Iovine, the big daddy of Gaga's record company, about how the industry has managed to attract young customers.

"Well, I don't know how everyone feels about this. But I personally really like what happened in the last four or five years in music, because I feel that we were losing the kids below 10 years old. And what's happened with the Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera and 'N Sync, is to have kids comfortable that are six and seven years old and using music again. Whereas, for a while, music wasn't the first, second or third on their Christmas list.

My 12-year old wasn't interested in music when he was six or seven. He just got interested in it now. But my six-year old now is interested in music, because there's music for her. So I'm sort of really happy about where the music business stands right now. There's a whole generation of kids that are growing up wanting CD players, wanting to play on the internet with music, wanting to experiment with it. So I think it's a fabulous opportunity for the record industry. "

I am suprised anyne would approve just to be 'cool'..after all, i thought any possibility of being cool evaporates when you give birth...(unless you are Madonna)

i remember exactly the same stink about Madonna's stuff in the eighties/nineties - and those children have grown up to be Mumsnetters. Funny how history repeats itself...

justmarie · 16/03/2010 17:26

how are images of women flaunting themselves degrading women? surely those images are degrading men ,after all no-one MAKES these women do it

daftpunk · 16/03/2010 17:39

Ok dittany... srry, my mistake....I rush read..

I don't like her because she's a fake lesbian...I like her because she's something different, she doesn't take herself too seriously and she looks like she's having a great time.... I wish I was her actually.

As for europop?...can't say much about that as daftpunk are a europop band...

justmarie · 16/03/2010 17:39

i'm not sure if i can post pictures on this site ,however if i could i would post a picture of both a bare chested man and a bare chested woman , what would happen ?

BitOfFun · 16/03/2010 17:41

Sorry, I've got to go and make myself some tea

AnyFucker · 16/03/2010 17:55

LadyGaga looks like she's having a great time ?

Err, she is miserable-looking as all sin...

She is a surprisingly good dancer though...not in this vid...in previous ones

does it really matter ?
my boys grew up with britnee and such ,hasn't made them women hating perverts .
as a "come out" lesbian i really find some of these comments distasteful . who are mumsnet to tell us what i should and shouldn't have allowed my children to watch they have grown up to be healthy unsupressed happy young men
i am prepared to bet that some of you make love with the lights off on a friday/saturday night

PetPeeveBonanza · 16/03/2010 18:06

I am really baffled by all of these people who are saying she is kissing a woman for mens pleasure? She is bisexual, she said in an interview that her longest relationship was with a woman...

It's insane that some women believe this must be for mens pleasure, bisexual women do exist believe it or not.

justmarie · 16/03/2010 18:43

can't beat kisses and cuddles .
as a mother who gave birth to four boys they used to come to me for those sort of things ,does that make me a female paedophile then ?

Pofacedagain · 16/03/2010 18:56

what on earth are you talking about justmarie?

MrsC2010 · 16/03/2010 18:58

She's a pillock and she looks like a man.

paulaplumpbottom · 16/03/2010 19:02

I think its trashy but I don't see anything in it that hasn't been done before. Its hardly groundbreaking.

paulaplumpbottom · 16/03/2010 19:13

I do think it is completely unsuitable for children and that it shouldn't be shown until very late at night.

I'm suprised that Beyonce feels the need to stoop to this level. She has done so many amazing videos (Single Ladies was incrediable and showed off how talented she really is). I'm disappointed in her actually.

BritFish · 16/03/2010 19:32

sorry Dittany, fake lesbian?
and your basis for this is....

and again, just because kids like trashy euro pop, doesnt mean she makes trashy euro pop for kids! how is this not getting across?!?
people actually make music for the LOVE sometimes, not just for the money...

fair enough if thats what her record company said [not that it mentioned Gaga] but i dont really think she herself would think her music/appearance/shows are for kids!

justmarie, i get your point about the bare chested thing.
and your right, women can say NO. they choose to writhe around half naked!

and exactly, if it was man/woman kissing noone would have made a single comment, but because some people on here seem to think lesbianism is just to please men or at least showing it on tv is just to 'titillate' men [again, ] everyone makes a fuss....
