To now dislike my dd's class teacher after finding her on MN?

She wasn't very complementary about the little dah-lings in her care and I am silently fuming now. I completely randomly feel upon her user name and looked at her profile on the off chance that it might be her and there she was - pics n' all. She does not post a lot but one of her posts would put her in line for at least a formal warning if not more.

Can't say who she is but it is definitely her - without a shadow of a doubt.

I have never had MN cross over into RL before. Is it wrong of me to glance at her generally boring posts, just because it's her?

Maybe I could drop subtle hints about the fact that I use MN too just to see her reaction.

In any case, I think it was a bit sloppy and feel she should have taken more care to make herself anonymous.

I'd really like to know what's wrong with the voodoo books in the list. It's legal, it's an official religion of a country that's very much in the news at the moment. It's very interesting culturally, particularly the way it is bound up with Catholicism in Haiti. It seems perfectly reasonable for a teacher to read up on the subject, either for personal or professional interest.

Voodoo and Satanism both tend to not be about what people THINK they are about. Aleister Crowley wrote at length about libertarianism and Anton LaVey argued for individualism. The term Satanism was really a bit of marketing. They both had a lot to say on philosophy, politics and psychology.

It seems a bit Daily Mailish to suggest that a teacher reading on any of these subjects is somehow unsuitable to teach. Should we go back to the days when married women shouldn't teach because they were tainted?

violethill · 28/02/2010 16:23

Hear hear carmen.

All a bit too clever for the OP though isn't it?

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 28/02/2010 16:37

OP done a runner yet?

popsycal · 28/02/2010 16:48

read half the thread and got bored

it is not me

but I would really really REALLY urge any teacher to make sure their facebook settings are thoroughly throroughly private. This is from experience of something going on within the school where I work

I have always made myself totally unsearchable and unviewable by anyone who is not my friend

It is important that we protect ourselves from nutters

notanumber · 28/02/2010 20:47

Oh, I see, it's absolutely fine for you to draw everyone's attention to details of another poster's history but totally out of order for another poster to do so, especially if they're an evil teacher.

I am astounded that it is OK to resort to bringing up unrelated old threads by Anna re her partner's ex and career choices in order to personally attack her, given the flack you gave me for accessing a wish list. If I deserve a caution for what I did, then that should warrant a custodial sentence.

"Perhaps she's having an identity crisis?" ...says Mrs BNP.
Daftpunk, I just wanted to say that I love the idea of immigration - my dcs' schools are about 60% non-white - we have just got back from a Roma restaurant run by one of ds' classmates family. ethnic diversity is one of the reasons I am hesitant to HE. A lot of these children of immigrant parents are just so bright - makes perfect sense why they end up getting a good education and employment. Love them - Mwwaaah

Be careful absinthe, you don't want to be accused of hypocrisy. You've made it clear how much you dislike that sort of thing.

To be honest I'm increasingly finding this difficult to believe. This is just another teacher bashing thread started by someone trolling for their own amusement.

TheYearOfTheCat · 28/02/2010 23:09

Well if the OP looks like a porn star, then I'm sure the -heinous- felon- teacher concerned, who is most likely lurking, appalled, will know which parent has been -stalking- researching her.

I know the thread has moved on somewhat, but I find it irritating that the op has tried to justify her actions on this thread as being for the good of the teacher concerned - 'well thank god I have done her a favour and she has removed her profile' sort of thing.

TheYearOfTheCat · 28/02/2010 23:11

I absolutely must learn how to do proper strike outs.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 28/02/2010 23:25

Okay

can someone please explain to me what is going on??

Thread gone mad! Thread gone mad!

I am under no illusions that teachers think of some kids in their care as little shits- I frequently think of my own kids as little shits, and I'm related to them

I think it is a bit naive to imagine that all teachers love all the children that they teach all the time.

I have to say, I think it IS a bit odd to go through someone's Amazon wish-list (bear in mind some people use their wish list to bookmark books they are going to buy for other people) Life is too short, I say.

Confused about all the voodoo and porn- if I've got this right, somehow OP is a porn star who is worried that her child's teacher is practising the dark arts on her class???? (or have I stumbled into a negative reality inversion?) Would like to offer a sensible, well-though out reply, but brain is scrambled!

violethill · 28/02/2010 23:46

Brief synopsis:

OP is a mad porn-star-lookalike who, when she isn't chained to the bed being whipped, likes to stalk her children's teachers across the internet.

Or on the other hand maybe she's a bored housewife who hasn't had any sex from her hubby for months, needs a job, and is threatened by other people with more interesting lives.

My money's on the second option.

wastwinsetandpearls · 28/02/2010 23:48

I am still amused that she is bragging about the fact that her children go to school with BenDover's children. Very bizarre.

Mumcentreplus · 01/03/2010 00:02

its her claim to fame twins

Pebbles71 · 01/03/2010 18:47

Like i said earlier I think shes in lala land and has her head in the clouds.....she claims on the other thread she was bought up by a published feminist mother....all these claims seem to be like something you would read out of a fiction book that you read before you go to bed....
