Gosh you cant say anything at all on here without people being offended by any little thing, so you end up walking on eggshells thinking is a post that you have just written on here going to offend anybody so you dont post just in case. Would people stop being so precious!

Unfortunately with 300,000 or so members, anything anyone says at any time is bound to cause offence to someone. Even if 299,000 posters are not offended, the one who is is bound to make her/himself known on the thread in question! Its impossible to avoid, I fear.

abbierhodes · 20/02/2010 23:26

Oh, I agree!!!! I soooo wanted to start this thread!!!!!

runnybottom · 20/02/2010 23:28

Is everyone who is offended precious then? Are we banned from being offended at all?

POst what you want and let people be offended if they want.

nevereatbrownsnow · 20/02/2010 23:28

Yeah, my arse, my rules !

EmilyStrange · 20/02/2010 23:30

You sound offended runnybottom

2shoes · 20/02/2010 23:31

depends
on what is offending
example please

pigletmania · 20/02/2010 23:34

he he he yes . I started a thread recently about the dress styles of My Big Fat Gypsie wedding, simply commenting that they imo were about loud and tacky, someone then made it a political issue and stated that i was being racist towards the Gypsie community which was not so, just commented on their wedding attire not themselves as travelers wtf!

groundhogs · 20/02/2010 23:34

Oh, I hear you OP.... YANBU!

McBitchy · 20/02/2010 23:35

agree op

2shoes · 20/02/2010 23:35

pigletmania NOW be fair some of the posts on the threads about that programme were racist

pigletmania · 20/02/2010 23:36

Just seen a thread on here about someone being Offended that OCD is being used liberally as a throw a way remark by people, gosh the censorship, we are all robots who must adhere to the PC collective!

OP posts:
pigletmania · 20/02/2010 23:39

Yes they were, I as the OP of that thread are only responsible for what i say in my OP not what other people are saying. I started a thread about clothing styles but it soon became quite horrible, yes fair enough people are entitled to their views but it had been taken over as a slanging match towards the travelling community which was not my intention.

OP posts:
2shoes · 20/02/2010 23:40

see now you are moaning about someone being upset, I jst looked at that thread and the op is upset.
sometimes these things are more that just a moan.

pigletmania · 20/02/2010 23:41

2 shoes the person who felt insulted was insulted at my OP and felt that i was responsible for what people write which i am not. My OP on that thread was meant to be directed at the dress styles not at behaviour of travellers or them as people.

DebiNewberry · 20/02/2010 23:42

are people on MN offended by everything?

I don't think so, really. I think you can post what you want, and others can disagree.

Didn't see the OCD thread but I did see the please can we stop saying BF Nazis and think that is completely reasonable and right.

runnybottom · 20/02/2010 23:42

Being offended by something is not the same thing as wanting to censor people.

I'm very hard to offend. But, if I do find something offensive or whatever I will say so. Doesn't mean I have the right to stop you saying it.

Some of the posts on that thread were ignorant, rather than offensive. Which was I tried to educate rather than be offended.

Everyones offended by something, even you OP.

2shoes · 20/02/2010 23:43

sorry x posts, i meant the OCD thread not yours.
on the gypsy threads the only offensive thing was the rasict comments about grpsies not those awfull dresses

MrsMargate · 20/02/2010 23:44

I am offended that you are offended by people being offended.

Mostly I am offended by the people who get offended at the slightest remark.

I have now offended myself.

2shoes · 20/02/2010 23:44

DebiNewberry agree that is an awfull term.
sometiomes people are right to argue that something is offensive(i often do if affects my dd) but you do have to draw the line.

2shoes · 20/02/2010 23:45

MrsMargate now your offending post has offended me

MrsMargate · 20/02/2010 23:48

2shoes · 20/02/2010 23:49

MartinCrispyDuck · 20/02/2010 23:53

"Just seen a thread on here about someone being Offended that OCD is being used liberally as a throw a way remark by people, gosh the censorship, we are all robots who must adhere to the PC collective!"

I am sorry that I fail to live up to your liberal ideals. I was upset about that comment tonight - perhaps tomorrow I won't be, but today I was. Someone once said to me that before passing judgement on someone, you should come and walk a mile in their shoes. Frankly, right now, I wish that someone else was walking in my shoes.

pigletmania · 20/02/2010 23:53

I am having a moan . i know people have a right to be offended and to post what they like but expect offence but havent i got a right to moan about it
