to think that my neighbours are being over the top?

This morning I got a phone cal from the counsel who said they'd had complants about noise levels from our house. Aparently, we offen play 'loud music until the early hours of the morning'. This is not true we had a party for my sons 18th last weekend and it was quite loud but we were only doing Abba karaoke which was a laugh. It wasnt even that loud.

We only have neighbours on one side as the other house is empty so it must be them whove complaned. They are old and quite stuck up. I'm furious with them and this afternoon I told them what I thought about them over the fense and asked them what teh hell there doing. Its not the first time theyve complaned either because weve had complants before about the noise. They said there going to call the police and thats not fair because I only gave back as good as i got.

yes, you should have said nothing as police are unfortunately going to take the older couple's words as more true that a person who has apparently not done anything about a noise issue.

Did you even have the courtesy to tell them you were having a celebration of your son's 18th?

Thanks differentid we didnt tell the neighbours before the party because they would have said no then. They hate us because we acsidently set fire to there fense on bonfire night with the bonfire and we didnt have enough money to pay for a knew one.

they phoned the police with the fense but that wasnt our fault. they phone the police quite a lot now because they have it in for us now.

How late exactly? if it was anything past 11 rof Karaoke I could hear from a party I hadn't been warned about, from people attached to me on one side I would phone the police.

You got what you deserve - I suggest you send them flowers and a heartfelt apology.

ruddynorah my son likes to do karaoke. Him and some of his mates always have a go at the pub and we had hired the machine specially. To be fair we were all a bit pissed.

Write them a grovelling letter of apology. Replace their fence. Send them flowers.

They can't stop you from having a party so it would have been neighbourly to inform them beforehand. They could have gone out or away if they wanted to but you didn't tell them so they had to stay and suffer.

The council (which is what I assume you meant) have an environmental health dept. It takes quite a lot for them to be interested in noise. They advise people affected by noise to keep a diary. Once there is a repeating pattern of behaviour it is termed as a nuisance and the council will take an active interest.

I doubt that a one off party would have led to a call from the council. There must be more history than you are choosing to relate.

If you set fire to their fence by placing your bonfire too close it is your fault.

Very glad we don't have neighbours like you .

Not only has she not replaced it,it was her bonfire that burnt their fence down but in her opinion it wasnt her fault.

I had exactly the same from my old neighbours.

Always banging on about death metal being unsuitable for small children, and reporting me for my tatt 'n' pierce parlour which I only ran when it was school holidays as I needed the local toerags to minder the cash box.

In the end, I had the choice of moving house or putting up wtih the bloody neighbours.

So I had them shot.
