...to think that a man who "doesn't drive" is not remotely sexy

I saw this on another thread (doesn't matter which) and didn't want to hijack it with my silly ramblings

but, I can't imagine being with a man who "doesn't drive" (disabilities notwithstanding)

just someone too lazy to learn, who would let their OH chauffeur them around

there is something very appealing (sexy) about a man who drives well

mind you, I have a thing about a well-shaped wrist on a man , and driving in short sleeves shows that off to perfection

am I showing my age here ?

yabu! i find men who are too into their cars (audi tt and bmw worst offenders) way more of a turn off.

i don't drive at 30 (am forced to learn now for job reasons) because i just wasn't interested - what does that make me?

Goblinchild · 31/01/2010 13:47

'it's not the car I find sexy...how weird would that be ?'

I think there's a website for it...

AnyFucker · 31/01/2010 13:47

I'll tell you what, riv, there are some great conversations you can have with your eyebrows as you sit waiting at the traffic lights....

but that is a whole other thread

LOL@Goblin...
didn't some man marry his car? and apparently there's car porno ..I think it involves the gear stick

AnyFucker · 31/01/2010 13:56

I know Goblin, I really though that UQD was hinting that I felt sexual desire for cars !

I know some people do, like the bloke who burned his nob by shagging an exhaust pipe.

How would a woman make love to a car ? < muses >

ilovemydog, as far as I am concerned, the present situation of global warming and pollution and imminent oil shortages is a bit of a crisis and dh is being very good in it

Being able to wait for the bus in the rain and keep the children happy by telling them stories- now those are the kind of firm cool qualities I admire. Carrying the weekly load of shopping home on your back somehow does seem stronger than just getting in a car and twiddling a few buttons.

nannynobnobs · 31/01/2010 14:03

My friend's fiance doesn't drive- he is also a dedicated vegetarian, a lifelong punk, anti -Nazi league, one of the most witheringly sarcastic people I have ever come across and is very attractive (she has been in love with him for ooh, 15 years- they finally got together last year)
My DH didn't drive till around a year after we met. It didn't increase or decrease his attractiveness in my eyes at all!

2babyblues · 31/01/2010 14:04

yabu. I don't think driving makes anyone sexy or not. Everyone has their own situation. I hate this strange looking down on people that don't drive.

AnyFucker · 31/01/2010 14:10

I like to have my buttons twiddled....

Oh for goodness sake! It's a bit of a light hearted thread!

For the record, DP only really drives when he goes to work, and not accessible by public transport. The rest of the time, we walk when possible and he usually walks at least 4 - 5 miles a day. We do reusable nappies (on both kids), reduce, reuse, recycle, generally lentil weave, and fund raise for the Green Party

cory · 31/01/2010 14:12

Well at the bus stop he'd have his hands free, Anyfucker.

Wispabarsareback · 31/01/2010 14:12

Well it would certainly be handier in some ways if my DH could drive. (He tells me he can, but inexplicably failed two driving tests years and years ago...) But having said that, I like driving - and it means that DH has to take responsibility for amusing/controlling the DCs while we're in the car. I'm not much amused though when we go to family lunches or whatever and he quaffs wine throughout while I have to cope with the in-laws sans alcohol, and then drive home while he has a nap

Had honestly never thought about the sexiness aspect of driving - and still can't quite get my head around what the OP and others are on about. But we live in the middle of London, where driving really isn't essential. When DH and I first got together I was much more impressed by the fact that he knew loads of good places to go and had a very suave way of hailing a cab...

AnyFucker · 31/01/2010 14:14

you might have something there, cory...

but what would he do with all the bags of shopping ?
