Are you such a good parent...?

Honestly, are you online "theorising about good parenting" whilst your kids are watching telly in the other room. If you're such a good parent, why aren't you making things or playing with the kids?

I have cracked open the rum after having strapped ds to the bed and locked him in his room for falsely claiming he was having nightmares.

PuzzleRocks · 18/01/2010 22:56

JjandtheBeanisaTwislut · 18/01/2010 22:57

Actually, the fact that my 18mth old & 6 yr old can occupy themselves for a while, while I MN makes me a good mum!

They all need some 'me time'

Longtalljosie · 19/01/2010 07:51

I'm MNing with one hand while holding my breastfeeding DD with the other. Unless you think that I should be simultaneously breastfeeding and scrubbing the kitchen floor?

Fibilou · 19/01/2010 08:07

I am perfect, obviously. I have read all the books. When this baby comes out I will be the perfect mother who always know what to do as I have done all the reading.

"So you don't worry about the kids, or have any other obligations.... and of all the things you could choose to do with your time, you do this..?

SweetGrapes · 19/01/2010 08:51

upahill · 19/01/2010 09:03

If I'm on the computer it keeps them off face book.....That's good parenting innit?

Mandy1966 · 19/01/2010 09:10

Garry, isnt he the snail on Spongebob?

JackBauer · 19/01/2010 09:17

Mine's weeping on my lap as she has pox.
God knows where the other one is. It's gone all quiet so DH must have taken her to school.

sneezecake · 19/01/2010 11:32

my ds is asleep on my lap and still breast feeding, who says boys cant multi-task?

nickytwotimes · 19/01/2010 11:34

I can only MN when ds is asleep or out at nursery.

I am therefore a GOod Parent, but Shite Housekeeper.

cory · 19/01/2010 11:35

Bohoooo! I tried to play with dd and make lovely little crafty things but the headteacher wouldn't let me in

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 19/01/2010 13:31

I tried again to interest the dses in some craft activities, or a Nice Board Game of some sort, and they just gave me strange looks before they sloped off to play xbox or msn their mates read educational books and do their homework!!

pranma · 19/01/2010 15:42

mine are all married and about their lawful business -neglecting- looking after their own families.

pranma · 19/01/2010 15:43

ah TWO hyphens!! neglecting

asquashandasqueeeze · 19/01/2010 15:46

I am at work. does that make me a really crap parent (and worker too?)

VinegarTits · 19/01/2010 15:53

How dare you

I never theorise about good parenting, it comes naturally

CheerfulYank · 19/01/2010 15:55

I'm at work too squeeze, and I work with children so I'm neglecting them as well, all the while being a totally crap mother b/c my DS is at daycare. It's a gift really, being this terrible of a person.

ChickensLoveMarmite · 19/01/2010 16:10

So, what is this good parenting you mention?

I don't parent. I am a parent. And I'm not a 'good' parent I'm just their parent.
