To thin my 'friends' shouldn't really have been bitching about what I wore to go sledging on Saturday?

I've just got one of those accidentally forwarded emails (at least I ope it was accidental)

I went sledging with an old uni friend , her friends and all of our DC's we had a really fab day.

Now reading this 11 reply long email laughing about what I wore.

I have no idea how I should respond but I damn well want them to know I have seen it.

I have not worn trousers once since this whole snow malarky started, and have not frozen to death. I wear tights or leggings or leggings + tights, with big feck off boots and lots of layers. I have not frozen and I think I look hot.

They, and Garrylous are being unreasonable. Who cares what England wears to go sledging? You were hardly running about in just tights. Now that would be cause for concern about your fanny

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 11/01/2010 15:03

tight heaven

I really want you to post a picture - I can't visualise this shell suit dress over a jumper and the whole cycling shorts and tights and big boots thing.

But yes regardless of suitability for sledging it is always rude (and bizarre) to email and discuss fanny temperature and they don't sound very nice.

PandaEis · 11/01/2010 15:06

your 'friends' were being bitches!! simple as that!! good for you making a dignified response!! i would probably tell them all to fuck right off but i have trouble with dignified when people are being mindlessly mean and nasty

have any of the other cows answered you back??

posieparker · 11/01/2010 15:06

OP I wouldn't care if you were out in a bikini to be honest, and if I did I may have had a bit of a and a with you....along the lines of 'Hey TDWP, you look freezing but style before warmth 'eh???!!!'

laurakeegan · 11/01/2010 15:18

Why would you want to wear jeans anyway you would be colder surely??

StarExpat · 11/01/2010 15:21

yes, photo please But the issue really the talking behind your back. If they were to say something to you about it, this would be totally different!

Garrylous · 11/01/2010 15:31

i cant imagine wearing two pairs of tights

arent you then like a human onion/

Garrylous · 11/01/2010 15:33

hola boco! i haev mailed you

Casserole · 11/01/2010 15:36

Well, the main effect this thread has had on me is to make me (a) realise how poor my collection of tights is and (b) go on ebay and look for knitted dresses!!

TDWP I sympathise. At least they weren't for the most part close friends. One of my oldest friends sent her husband a text last year bitching about me... except, you've guessed it, she sent it to me. Try as we might to get past it, the friendship's never quite been the same since.

And a few months ago a friend forwarded on a group email trying to arrange a meet up to another friend of ours without realising that a gazillion messages down the thread, someone had bitched about the recipient's wife... I was cc:ed in though THANKFULLY wasn't involved but my heart just sank when I saw it, one of those real "oh FUUUUCK" moments. It's certainly made me realise that it's always worth double checking before sending something!!!

They are all in crisis management talks right now I bet you.

Casserole · 11/01/2010 15:44

Important update: I just bought this dress.

Now.... what tights to go with it?!?

MillyR · 11/01/2010 15:51

I haven't worn trousers since the snow started either. I dug chickens out of a snow drift in tights, minidress, and a light coat earlier.

Nobody has commented, but then I am in the North. My SIL was wearing a sleeveless fleece at Christmas, with nothing on underneath.

Hulababy · 11/01/2010 16:02

I NEVER wear trousers in wet or snowy weather. I hate the way the water seeps up the bag of them, and hthe fact that they take longer to dry. Jeans are the worst item of clotheing to wear IMO.

I always chose to wear skirt and top of dress, wth really thick woolen tights, and then my Ugg boots. I will then top with a cardi/hhooded cardi, bg coat, hat and gloves.

I remain toasty warm, and not all soggy. And if my tights do get wet they dry way quicker.

My DD is the same. Even at 7y she has worked out that jeans are rubbish in wet weather.

Your "friendds" sound awful and very bitchy.

Hulababy · 11/01/2010 16:03

Oh - and I agree purple tights are fab I have some to go with a couple of jumper dresses I have. I also have navy, black and grey, but fancy some other colours too.

DorotheaPlenticlew · 11/01/2010 16:42

Any more replies, DWP?

pagwatch · 11/01/2010 16:49

It occurs to me, were they australian cricketers by any chance, who had unfortunately misunderstood the invitation to join you for sledging?

Alambil · 11/01/2010 16:54

your outfit sounds great - I am of the same theory that legs/tights dry quicker

That's why I usually wear flipflops in the pouring rain - feet dry quicker than wet jean ankles!

MistleSnail · 11/01/2010 16:57

I do that too - when camping if it's pouring it down i can't understand folk who put trainers on to go to the shower block and back. I've been known to wear my sandals in the showers....

bellissima · 11/01/2010 16:57

Cycling shorts AND two pairs of tights!!! eeh pet, you are obviously not a Geordie.

(But your 'friends' are obviously bitches)

MadameCastafiore · 11/01/2010 16:58

Just send each and everyone of them a pair of tights in the post and blank them forever!

JustAnotherManicMummy · 11/01/2010 16:59

What nasty "friends"

I'd love to know what they say to you after receiving that email!

Thingiebob · 11/01/2010 17:01

I don't get it.

Why would someone bitch about you not wearing trousers?? And if they bitch about something like that then they must be at it all the time. There must be another reason they're so unpleasant.

I would email them saying 'This was forwarded onto me clearly by accident. I'm pleased though as it shows me how deeply unpleasant and bitchy you really all are'.

Tights? Trousers? Who cares!

JustAnotherManicMummy · 11/01/2010 17:15

I might have commented on such an outfit - but only in an envious "I wish I was so daring/fabulous" kind of way. Not that nasty tirade.

Any one got back to you yet OP?

LoveBeingAMummy · 11/01/2010 17:17

If I was out playing in the snow I may ask if you are warm enough i would certainly not do what they have the cows

nickelbabe · 11/01/2010 17:20

i got some lovely winter tights from these people for christmas.
they're really warm and comfortable.

i'm only wearing one pair of tights because i can't cope with 2 (they move around too much), but i usually wear a pair of socks too (under if plain and over if patterned/cartoony)
i tried 2 pairs of socks (one over one under) when the snow got really bad last week, but it was really uncomfortable!

the only time i wear trousers is when i'm digging (i don't want to damage any clothing and it's easier not to keep having to hoik them up!)
i very very very rarely wear trousers other than that.
