To thin my 'friends' shouldn't really have been bitching about what I wore to go sledging on Saturday?

I've just got one of those accidentally forwarded emails (at least I ope it was accidental)

I went sledging with an old uni friend , her friends and all of our DC's we had a really fab day.

Now reading this 11 reply long email laughing about what I wore.

I have no idea how I should respond but I damn well want them to know I have seen it.

The outfit TDWP describes isn't very odd if you don't have the outdoor wear. I wouldn't wear it, but I do lots of outdoor things, so have all the waterproofs and boots and so on. If you aren't going to wear it much, then it's not worth the cost.

If her "friends" thought it was odd, would it have killed them to ask, "aren't you a bit cold in that?" Thus giving her an opportunity to explain that she was comfortable.

If OP was warm and comfy, does it matter?

ChickensHaveFrozenNuggets · 11/01/2010 13:49

It's the slagging off behind the OP's back which is the issue, not her outfit.

tiredfeet · 11/01/2010 13:50

just wondering though whether someone deliberately added your name, not out of cruelty but so that you can see what kind of people they are?

compo · 11/01/2010 13:50

fair enough
bin them then

compo · 11/01/2010 13:51

it's obvious yanbu anyway, do you really need to ask us?!!

pagwatch · 11/01/2010 13:51

absolutely Chickens

If they thought her outfit at all odd the normal thing to do is to ask.
The group bitching is the issue notthe practicalities ofthe outfit

OtterInaSkoda · 11/01/2010 13:51

Indeed, Chickens.

Tiredfeet - interesting theory.

RawChocolate · 11/01/2010 13:52

Hi DWP,

Think you should feel sorry for them, because I reckon people who bitch, are obviously unhappy about something in their own lives.

Can't wait to see other replies!

Garrylous · 11/01/2010 13:52

well its just an opinion

if a mate of mine did turn up thus iw oudl think

how odd

so shoot me

Heqet · 11/01/2010 13:54

You might, garrylous. But would you then email your other friends to laugh about this mate?

cos if you would, that would make you a bitch.

And that's the difference - thinking it's odd, saying to her it's odd - v saying nothing to her then laughing at her behind her back.

StarExpat · 11/01/2010 13:54

Good point, chickens.
exactly. Your friends can't justify it at all - it doesn't matter what they were slagging you off for. It matters that they were slagging you off. Not good friends.

cheesesarnie · 11/01/2010 13:54

but surely youd say something to there faces?not email nasty comments to friends?

Garrylous · 11/01/2010 13:54

i dont htink it would be very interesting to anyone
id say to mate" what the fuck have you come in anegligee for"

and leave it at that

OrmIrian · 11/01/2010 13:54

Well on saturday I worse a pair of tights and leggings and a short cotton skirt with a cotton long-sleeve t-shirt and a huge thigh length jumper and a big cord coat on top with 2 scarves and some gloves. And some long brown boots too. I might have looked odd but it ddn't occur to me.

GetOrfMoiLand · 11/01/2010 13:55

What a bunch of cows!

Fancy calling you shallow.

I hope you have sent that email and the daft witches are festering.

How old are they - 15?

pagwatch · 11/01/2010 13:55

But Garry if you thought it was odd wouldn't you just say so or ask?
You wouldn't go home and send emails to your mutual friends taking the piss would you?

[hopeful]

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 11/01/2010 13:56

tiredfeet - maybe

interestingly the 'proper friend' I have out of the group hasn't responded whatsoever. As I say the rest are just friends of hers.

Though some of them I have known for a good couple of years trough picnics/ bbq's parties etc.

Ah I'm going to stop worrying about it, my mum took DD and DS to the aquarium this morning - got home, all fell asleep, and mum and Dd are still fast asleep in my bed. DS Has just woken up so will take him sledging again - make the most of it.

OP posts:
compo · 11/01/2010 13:57

no she'd come on musmnet for that

TheresSnowDragonHere · 11/01/2010 13:57

I think it's odd to wear a dress sledging but I wouldn't bitch about it.

Garrylous · 11/01/2010 13:57

well i just went out in a mini skirt , leggings and cowboy boots thinking it was warmer

and it AINT
am freezing

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 11/01/2010 13:59

"trough picnics/ bbq's parties"

Hilarious typo - yeah they are pigs

MissRabbitLovesHerJobs · 11/01/2010 13:59

TDWP, well done on the 'restrained' email, that's definately the best tack as it can't turn into 'ooh, she can't take a joke' thing if they try and backtrack.

Cows.

AnInginAneAnA · 11/01/2010 13:59

Yanbu, they sound like horrible people and I suppose you now know that with absolute certainty!

I think your outfit sounded warm and sensible (esp with cycling shorts), jeans are rubbish for sledging.

Garrylous · 11/01/2010 14:00

i was feeling left out no one haev ever invited ME to a trough picnic hten!

no am not interested by hosiery choices

SofaQueen · 11/01/2010 14:01

The key is to wear a very thin thermal legging under the leggings (like Uniqlo's) and insulating your feet also (chunky socks, sheepskin). Warmer than skinny jeans (brrrrrr, cold denim!).
