To thin my 'friends' shouldn't really have been bitching about what I wore to go sledging on Saturday?

I've just got one of those accidentally forwarded emails (at least I ope it was accidental)

I went sledging with an old uni friend , her friends and all of our DC's we had a really fab day.

Now reading this 11 reply long email laughing about what I wore.

I have no idea how I should respond but I damn well want them to know I have seen it.

yes feet are chilly

GetOrfMoiLand · 11/01/2010 14:03

You wouldn;t catch me dead sledging, but I think tights would be a better bet than jeans anyway, at least they don;t get wet.

Plus, I would much rather my friends said to my face 'getorf, why are you such a twat wearing tights skiing' than an email between them 'getorf is so shallow'.

I hate behind your back stuff.

ChickensHaveFrozenNuggets · 11/01/2010 14:03

Wet trousers flapping about your calves

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 11/01/2010 14:03

I never get cold feet or hands nor does DD.

Must be genetic - we can't bear socks in bed or gloves

DS however goes purple when I turn the cold tap on.

GetOrfMoiLand · 11/01/2010 14:04

skiing? I meant sledging.

thesteelfairy · 11/01/2010 14:04

I must be very wrapped up in myself because I wouldn't even notice what someone was wearing unless of course it was completely inappropriate ie something like a sundress and sandals!

Think I would let them know I had seen Email and then have as little to do with them as possible.

Heqet · 11/01/2010 14:07

Same here, thesteelfairy. I wouldn't care what someone else was wearing on the grounds that I'd be just as warm if they were in 16 jumpers or a bikini, so what do I care? (apart from my kids of course, who have to put on a jumper if I'm cold )

Garrylous · 11/01/2010 14:09

i think you are all being very diplomatic

whether right or wrong , in reality jeans woudl eb standard choice for most ENglish people. torusers easier to move in than a sweater dress

i woul wear those wiht waterproof trosuers over

the cycling shorts under tights bit has me in fits NOT the tights themselves
i woudl suggest that DWP looked a bit odd

missorinoco · 11/01/2010 14:09

Think your response (and those who suggested it) is a great idea).

Suspect your "mates" are just being catty cows, in the sad way women sometimes can be, rather than malicious withces, but if i were you i would also be thinking "fuck the fuck off".

Except for whomever wrote shallow, she needs a slapping.

BettyButterknife · 11/01/2010 14:11

Poor you, TDWP, your 'friends' sound awful

I don't think YABU at all to wear what you wear. I haven't worn trousers since the Big Freeze began... am pg and have out-grown my normal clothes but not big enough for maternity jeans yet.

Thermals and skirts/dresses, layered thin jumpers and cardigans have been more than toasty enough.

DorotheaPlenticlew · 11/01/2010 14:13

yeah but Garrylous, even if you think that - the question was aibu about the tweenish, absurd bitching rather than the outfit.

Heqet · 11/01/2010 14:14

So what if she did look odd? Who cares what someone else chooses to wear? And what bothers her is not that they thought she looked odd, but that they decided to call her 'shallow' and laugh at her behind her back.

If it was me, I'd be wondering what else they said about me behind my back!

DuelingFanjo · 11/01/2010 14:14

"whether right or wrong , in reality jeans woudl eb standard choice for most ENglish people. "

what about Welsh people?

I would wear tights and boots and a skirt to sledge in, no problem. Tights, boots and a skirt are pretty standard winter wear where I come from. Born in England, grown in ireland, Raised in Wales me.

TDWP - they are just being mean, am sure you looked fine. Not that it even matters what you looked like. They shouldn't be bitching about you like that.

Garrylous · 11/01/2010 14:14

oh i see
yes fairynuff
obv not mates.

Garrylous · 11/01/2010 14:15

i said english becuase I meant English people.

so what about the welsh

DuelingFanjo · 11/01/2010 14:21

it was a joke

Garrylous · 11/01/2010 14:21

ah
thought it was odd!

cheesesarnie · 11/01/2010 14:30

i wear my cycling shorts under pretty little dresses when i go out so my bum stays warm.

Wigglesworth · 11/01/2010 14:31

TDWP, looking at your profile page you are attractive and they are probably a wee but envious. Please update us with the responses from the set of bastards though.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 11/01/2010 14:38

Garrylous I'll post some pictures - i looked far from odd.

rather cool if I say so myself.

not as cool as Dd though in her hat I crocheted MYSELF!

(falls over and weeps with pride, ignores the massive hole in it)

nannynobnobs · 11/01/2010 14:49

I am awaiting the responses from these twunty 'friends' of yours. How will they try and scrape off the stinky shame of being caught out and wipe it on the others? Will they brazen it out? Claim somebody else was using their email?

DorotheaPlenticlew · 11/01/2010 14:55

Betcha they are frantically exchanging damage limitation emails and avoiding replying directly -- cowards

2snowshoes · 11/01/2010 14:57

you can crochet iam jealous, I have always wated to do that

fillybuster · 11/01/2010 14:58

TDWP - links to purple tights please? And how purple, anyway? I have pinky-purple spangly ones...do they count?

Do you think anyone sells purple maternity tights?

PfftTheMagicDragon · 11/01/2010 14:59

I don't see why trousers are any warmer than 2 pairs of tights, particularly if you had shorts and boots on. Once trousers (esp jeans) get wet they are freezing!

It's horrible to hear things like that, like overhearing someone talking about you, shocking. Witches.
