Just because you can't see the other person it doesn't mean they aren't real, or that they can't be hurt by peoples comments and nasty digs!!!

And I'm not talking about me, and I'm not naming names, I just think people should try to be a bit more considerate of each others feeling sometimes!!!

I agree. Some people on here are very harsh.

We all have feelings.

GhoulsAreLoud · 07/01/2010 14:39

Is this about the Miami thread?

juneybean · 07/01/2010 14:39

No idea what you're referring to but I do agree some people hide behind their monitors

memoo · 07/01/2010 14:39

Miami thread? No

MrsBadger · 07/01/2010 14:39

if it's a personal attack then report it

EcoMouse · 07/01/2010 14:39

I'm not real. Beauty of the internet. No-one knows I'm really a mouse. Ooops.

GhoulsAreLoud · 07/01/2010 14:40

No idea what you're on about then.

Supercherry · 07/01/2010 14:41

Yanbu. Some posters on MN remind me of school bullies at times.

memoo · 07/01/2010 14:42

I'm not going to start saying which thread and who because this isn't about pointing fingers, its just about asking people to consider others posters feeling sometimes

GhoulsAreLoud · 07/01/2010 14:43

Right you are.

thumbwitch · 07/01/2010 14:45

lol GAL - there are lots of other threads where people are inconsiderate of others' feelings! Some posters are renowned for their stance on "it's only words on a screen if you don't like it switch it off".

OP, I agree, YANBU - the written word can leave a sting for ages afterwards for some people - for others it's like water off a duck's back.

I never agreed with that old rhyme - "Sticks and Stones will break your bones but names will never hurt you"; seems more to me Sticks and Stones may break your bones but bones heal fairly quickly whereas name-calling can cause lifelong misery for some.
Not so snappy though.

I have to agree that sometimes the messages on these boards can be very confrontational, aggressive and hurtful . You shouldn't post it to a message board if you wouldn't say it too someones face and I think sometimes posters to hide behind the anonimity of their nicknames.

On the flip side, generally messages are helpful and supportive.

thumbwitch · 07/01/2010 14:46

gah! I knew that was going to happen, sorry for double post.

McSnail · 07/01/2010 14:48

It's a nice sentiment, and I generally agree - but every internet site I use (3 in total)tends to be a bit unforgiving. It's the nature of the beast.

Trying to persuade everyone to play nice would be like herding cats.

Hullygully · 07/01/2010 14:48

Bollocks

Bollocks to my post, or bollocks to the OP?

If it's bollocks to me, I'll cwy.

GhoulsAreLoud · 07/01/2010 14:51

I know, but I want to read them NOW because I am BORED!

None of this flirting about business - come on, out with it, thread about a thread is my favourite kind!

Thumbwhich, good post, glad you said it twice

OP posts:
Hullygully · 07/01/2010 14:53

Just a general bollocks.

Don't know why people get so heated about Anna. Who cares what she (or anyone else) thinks about anything? (slightly inflammatory for Ghouls)

thumbwitch · 07/01/2010 14:53

at Lequeen - no, I know - just not catchy enough is it?

How about "sticks and stones may break your bones but names fuck you up for ages"?

pagwatch · 07/01/2010 14:53

Thumbwitch is trying to make it catch on through repetition
