Just because you can't see the other person it doesn't mean they aren't real, or that they can't be hurt by peoples comments and nasty digs!!!

And I'm not talking about me, and I'm not naming names, I just think people should try to be a bit more considerate of each others feeling sometimes!!!

I like the bluntness of MN, although sometimes posts can be harshly worded I much prefer that you fluffy wuffy doo dahh like you would get on other sites.

To be fair if you are rude people others will tell you, think this site self moderates quite well.

Weicheiers the lot of you.

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 07/01/2010 15:23

Riven has decided to leave mumsnet as a result of unpleasantness on the teacher thread and the wootton bassett one.

Given the illness of her dd, and the amount of support that she recieved in the sn forum, I think that this is hardly mumsnet's finest hour.

Hullygully · 07/01/2010 15:23

woottoon bassett? What on earth has that provoked?

FlightAttendant · 07/01/2010 15:24

Sorry what? Oh no

Must go and read those then...

thumbwitch · 07/01/2010 15:25

Riven is muslim - it's about the muslim march, isn't it?

SDTG - that's dreadful - didn't realise she was actually leaving MN! Hope someone can persuade her to stay.

GetOrfMoiLand · 07/01/2010 15:26

David Tennant - really. Bloody hell poor Riven. Is she really not coming back?

ImSoNotTelling · 07/01/2010 15:26

Riven is leaving? Surely not

MadameDefarge · 07/01/2010 15:27

sticks and stones may break my bones but words can break my heart.

slim22 · 07/01/2010 15:32

about Riven.
I really resisted even reading that thread.
Am going to have to read now.

She does need support with her DD and she has also always provided a very attentive ear to others.

Have had a few minor spats with her because am a non practising muslim. Hope she stays. She has certainly helped me see things from her perspective both as a practicing muslim and a mother with a SN child.

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 07/01/2010 15:33

She has deleted her registration, apparently, and says she has no intention of coming back.

thumbwitch · 07/01/2010 15:34

ah shit, that is really bad and sad. She was getting a bit of a bashing on that schools thread, didn't see the wootton bassett one though.

memoo · 07/01/2010 15:45

Bingo DAvid tennant!!!

Sorry should have been, davidtennantsgirl

Hullygully · 07/01/2010 16:14

Didn't see either - but she shouldn't have felt she had to leave.

memoo · 07/01/2010 21:14

I agree she shouldn't have, but clearly some posters made her feel like she had too

ultimate responsibility for ones own feelings is self.only self regulation will meet ones needs

no likey- dont look.log off.esp on aibu.dont go foraging there for deep reflection and affirmative hugs

don't whine about words on a screen no one make you read em.you are not compelled to read

and no one is compelled to post their life's detritus about mil/dh/dp/demonised ex-wife's

but to purposefully post a made up scenario for schlock value is lame and a bit dullard brain

BitOfFun · 07/01/2010 21:30

I am very sorry indeed that Riven has gone. Having said that, I tend to leave threads that start getting extremely contentious, and didn't even click on the wooton bassett thread for that reason. I think that if you know something is likely to wind the fuck out of you, it's kind of your own responsibility to give it a bodyswerve.

Hullygully · 08/01/2010 09:18

I thought it was a licquorice allsort.

MillyR · 08/01/2010 09:48

I agree with BOF about the Wooton Bassett thread. I see no point in arguing with the same individual about the BNP/homophobia/single mothers again. I felt sorry for the OP, but felt it was better to keep off the thread. I suspect many people disagreed with the tone of the thread but thought it was better not to get involved.

MollyRoger · 08/01/2010 09:58

I'm very sorry Riven has felt the need to go.
I avoided the Wooten Bassett thread so have no idea what went on.
But as BOF says, there does come a point on a thread which pushes your buttons where you have to learn to protect your own mental health and emotional well being by Leaving It (either litteraly or metaphorically....)
