to be annoyed with Dh who always says he is ill whenever I am?

I woke with a cold today and I turned round to DH and said 'my throat is killing me and I have a headache'. His reply was 'So have I!!!'

He seems fine and it just really annoys me because he always has to have whatever I have! And worse!

Bloody man flu. He is whistling away in the kitchen just now while I still have my headache after a full day with the 2 DS's.

Mine does same. Have no idea why. It is very irritating. So, YANBU

KurriKurri · 15/12/2009 17:09

We used to have a doctor like that, you'd go in and say 'I've got a sore back', and he'd say 'God, tell me about it, mines terrible at the moment'

perhaps they think they're being empathetic!

PoppityMerryGentlemen · 15/12/2009 17:10

Oooo! Mine too! Must be an epidemic

SantasKinkyKnickers0nMaHead · 15/12/2009 17:11

Typical bloke behaviour isnt it!

Everytime I was ill, my exp felt worse.

tootiredtothink · 15/12/2009 17:16

Lol - mine too!

Although, apparently, his ailments are always worse than mine .

PfftTheMagicDragon · 15/12/2009 17:24

I think it's pre-emptive. They panic when they hear you are ill and think you might want them to do things so imagine that their pathetic attempts and retroactive illness will be believed.

Try harder

mummyofexcitedprincesses · 15/12/2009 17:24

OMG I thought it was just my DH- it is so annoying. It is a follow on from competitive sleep deprivation when the girls were babies, I would say how tired I was after being up with them half the night only for him to say he had had hardly any sleep (not even true!).

HopingForChristmasSexOnFire · 15/12/2009 17:26

mine too
except that since I have pointed this out to him in a fit of poorly indignation, he now stays quiet and makes me guilty suffers in silence.
a sort of result, I think.

SecretSlattern · 15/12/2009 17:26

I said this to DH today. Came in from work and felt a bit lightheaded and headachey so went for a lie down. DH tries to wake me up to collect DD from school (he could have gone himself but that's another story ) so I told him again I was feeling unwell and he said,"yeah me too".

Wouldn't mind normally but I'm 17 weeks pg so feel I should have my illnesses to myself

PoppityMerryGentlemen · 15/12/2009 17:28

Yes!

Pops; I have a headache

MrPops; Do you? I've had a migraine all day

Pops; Feel a bit achy too

Mr Pops; My joints are done in, I can barely make the stairs

Pops; I think I might have a bit of a temperature

MrPops; No, you look fine, my temp has been right up and you don't have it as bad.

Pops; Perhaps I'm coming down with something

MrPops; I think you just went to bed too late/had too much wine.

Love him

Actually I should say MrPops did actually look after me in a most lovely and uncomplaining way when I had flu recently. Perhaps he was storing up illness credits

kinnies · 15/12/2009 17:29

Just tell them to grow up!
nobbs. Really winds me up

PinkyMinxyPie · 15/12/2009 17:30

My DH is just like this- headaches, coughs, nausea, no sleep- despite him snoring through many a sleepless night I have had.

It's a man thing, it would seem.

HappyBump · 15/12/2009 17:33

My DH does this too, his pregnancy symptoms were apparently worse than mine, labour was painful and the sleep deprivation (he slept in a different room for the first year) was terrible.

I am pregnant again due in January and he has managed to struggle through a bit better this time apparently , although he is not looking forward to the birth he would like pain relief.

BEAUTlFUL · 15/12/2009 17:33

OMG, I didn't know they all did this! My XH did this every bloody time, and it irritated the tits off me. If I'd known they were all as annoying sensitive, I might not have been so sarcastic brisk with him.

TheEarthIsFlat · 15/12/2009 17:39

When I gave birth to ds, my dp had a toothache the next day. Talked about it for hours, and lots of that huffing and puffing which means "I'm pretending to suffer in silence but want you to notice I'm being really really brave". Refused to take any painkillers for it, then finally woke me up at 2am to tell me he was going to drive to the garage to buy some paracetamol.

NotAnotherNewNappy · 15/12/2009 17:41

YANBU. Mine's the same. First response to me getting ill is always 'i've been feeling ropey too' or 'i hope i don't get it'. Just once, it would be nice if he said 'poor you, i'll get you a lemsip'.

TheProvincialLady · 15/12/2009 17:46

Yep, mine's the same too. I got so fed up with his whining about headache, tiredness after I had DS2 that I asked him straight whether he also had a ripped penis? He took my point

MrsMorgan · 15/12/2009 17:50

Xp used to do this all the time, and he was always more tired than me too.

I saw him yesterday, after i'd been awake all night with 2 dd's with stomach bugs and ds with restless legs, and I said something about having a crap night and he said 'yeh i'm knackered too'

Twat

MrsMorgan · 15/12/2009 17:52

Xp also used to refuse to take any meds or visit a doctor, so after years of him saying 'oh my head/arm/leg/knee', i'd just say 'have you taken anything for it ?', and then say 'right shut up then cos I don't want to know', when he said he hadn't.

Ladyanonymous · 15/12/2009 17:53

Every man I have ever been with (and there have been a few ) has been exactly the same like this.

Useless twats the lot of them.

Numberfour · 15/12/2009 17:54

mine does the same. drives me up the frigging wall. and his ailment is ALWAYS worse than mine.

LOL ripped penis!!

Curlygirly · 15/12/2009 17:55

yep. Same here. I can never be ill alone. Same with tiredness. If I'm tired he is exhausted. If I am exhausted he is completly shattered!
