pig - may I ask what on earth your research on the young woman who has been raped has to do with the eleven plus forum and this thread?

Maybe try bebo, myspace, facebook etc.

Nice of you to assume we are all wrapped up in our 'own narrow minded little worlds'

As you say yourself it is not good to assume

Anyway how is the research going?

Hardys · 11/03/2010 14:26

ed - Hardys as in wine!

sorry, have not got a clue what you are on about!

Have you got one of those pincer type staple removers, as perhaps that will help clear your head?

Ed - I can answer one of those. Re moderators:

First of all, they are free, surely, to operate as they please. Mn is unusually light on the moderation, and is famed for being so. It's like telling a tabby cat off for not being black. I don't know the rhetorical term for it, but it's definitely odd.

Secondly, mn historically DID have moderators, it is no longer so obviously the case precisely because it is a big site - they have fancy schmancy software and have achieved that "wikipedia" thing of multiple, swift, self-correction. But you need a (large) critical mass of posters for that.

Thirdly, is this thread still going? Seriously, the thing about the internet is, it is huge. Why the mania about this one, tiny, site? No-one is nailing you to a chair, eyes wired open, forced to engage with it, Clockwork-orange stylee.

It really does look like weird, bullying behaviour, by members of a vast, powerful forum, of a teeny, tiny little forum.

How bizarre this thread has become!

I am trying to GET IN but feel pushed out.

I use a number of different internet forums and I've never had any issues with being "excluded" or "pushed out". I make polite posts, ask polite questions and get polite answers.

The only people who ever seem to get pushed out of internet forums are people who go on them to create controversy and stir up trouble.

I can't imagine for one moment that if you go on the 11+ site to ask for advice and support you will be "pushed out". I have never been made to feel anything but welcome when I have posted on there.

Anyway, why the desperation to get on there????

Do you have a measuring gauge for obsessiveness?

I think that if they do, Ed, you might be quite high on the scale by now with all your questions about how they run the site!

Why should they have to justify themselves to you? It's their site and they can run it in any way they wish. If you don't like that, stay on here.

No, I am not a Moderator. Just a humble mum who is very grateful to the people over there for all the good advice they gave me.

If you haven't had a reply it might just be that no-one knows the answer? Or maybe the right person hasn't dropped by yet? Anyway, not every part of that forum is busy - some places have very few people reading them.

If you are being ignored (which I really doubt) there must be a reason, but only you can know what it is.

Why not just do the obvious thing and ask the question again? Who knows, you might get an answer and then you can stop griping about them on here ...

If your sense of paranoia is so huge that you can't bring yourself to do that "in case they might find out who you are", why not post the question on here instead?!

Has it occurred to you that, with last week being the week that people get their school places and that site being really busy, someone may have just overlooked your post?

I cannot for the life of me grasp why your chosen solution to your problem is to sit on here and trash another website.

(Goes off to hide thread instead of wasting life on someone who is just here to moan pointlessly.)

I love a conspiracy theory as much as the next person Ed, but will have to disappoint you if you are looking for one involving elevenplus exams.

Only the site owner and programmer are able to ban people.

If the only reason you have to assume that you have been banned is because of your comments on this site then that would not be sufficient reason. Only you however would know whether or not there is anything else which may lead to your assumption.

Moderators are all volunteers with busy lives in the real world, no decisions are made without discussion, so we need a higher number of people on the team.

However as other MN members have pointed out to you previously, it is our site and our rules.

No conspiracy theory, no skeletons in the cupboard and btw I was too young to have been on the grassy knoll.
