I have been unable to access the site as well. I am a new member of the 11 plus website and made some posts which have disappeared!! They were on waiting for allocation results in Warwickshire and commiserating with another poster who had not got her grammar choice for her child's school. If I am not mistaken, several posts were also removed besides mine from 2 other posters. For discussing allocations, I might add.

There were no communications from the moderators or anyone in the administration to say why my posts have been removed. I have checked my emails and there has also been no communincation as to why I am denied access or replies from webmaster or adminstrator. I will send an email to SallyAnne.

If you have a problem with 11+ then you need to look at your choice of teachers.

If you have a problem with grammar and punctuation and grammar then you are probably not appreciating the references to Middle English.

This is weird, if not scary.
I am another one who has difficulty logging on and not getting replies to emails to the site.

Ah, CotonParkMum. How interesting that you should surface on this thread.

Yes, you would know that two other posters have been banned from the site. That would be because all three of you were - how shall I put this delicately? - aspects of the same personality.

It is always a conundrum for the Mods when someone appears on the Forum and then has a conversation with him or herself, or indeed several parts of themselves, without anyone else joining in. Does this benefit the forum community? If not, which part of the multiple personality should receive the PM? Should we waste our time PMing at all?

Perhaps that is also the reason you have not emailed me - all three of you are still arguing among yourself as to who should do the job?

For anyone facing fewer issues, my email address remains sally.anne at elevenplusexams.co.uk

CotonParkMum · 17/03/2010 15:46

SallyAnne,

I have sent the site adminstrator an email 2 weeks ago!! I have sent you one 2 days ago. That the website and yourself choose not to acknowledge or reply is not going to help. I do not know what caused access to be blocked nor do I have a clue what else I could have done other than to email the site.

It's no wonder I found this thread. I had already given up and was looking for other 11 plus sites and information. Googling search options brings up this MN thread about your forum, 4th on one of the searches in fact!

You are able to diagnose 'my split personality' from afar? What an outrageous accusation! I don't know if the others are banned. I just know I was posting and within 15 minutes or so,my posts were deleted with some others. How is it possible then for others to interact and join in at 3-ish in the afternoon when my posts are not there?

Not only that, access to the forum was compromised and there was no way to communicate to anyone in charge internally. My email to administrator for information did not receive a reply. A follow up email was also not answered.

So thank you very much for your random decisions not to PM anyone and for extending your courtesy to new posters on your site by responding to their emails (not). Comments on this thread are correct. You have problems with communication on your forum especially as you consider PMing members a waste of time. Maybe you need more volunteer moderators to clear your backlog or maybe you need fewer unnecessary moderations.

FWIW, my posts had no slanderous or abusive content and neither did the others, so it's clear as mud why they were deleted.

I am not going to keep sending emails to website and moderators when

  1. you are clearly not going to bother to answer them
  2. you post on here as if you have never ignored anyone
  3. you think members are a waste of time. I was responding to a poster in the wilderness of Warwickshire about her child not getting into her grammar choice. Others who did the same were not deleted and I am a waste of time.

There are other 11+ sites around on the internet. Their welcome might be warmer than yours. Don't bother missing me.

CotonParkMum,

I think sallyanne is trying to suggest you have a couple of alts rather than saying you are mentally ill, to decide that you must have all been posting from the same IP address?

No, tution is not a must. We didn't use a tutor for DS1 and DS2 and both passed and the grammar was definately the right school for them.
With DS3 we did use a tutor for a few months as he has mild dyslexia and although very able at maths/logic sort of things, is hopeless with reading. He didn't pass and tbh, although he is upset at not following his brothers and friends, a grammar school really would not have been the right place for him. We feel that if he had passed, it would only have been due to the tution and not because he would be at the right school.
As long as you get practice papers and do them at home so the child is prepared, then any one who is right for a Grammar school SHOULD get a place.
Having said that, it does vary according to where in the country you live - some areas it is easier to get in to one than others.
State primaries, as a rule, do not do any work towards the 11+. Your DC's class teacher should have a good idea whether or not s/he would be suitable for a grammar school (and imho, it is not just about intellegence, but whether they will cope with the workload, which our quite bright DS3 wouldn't have done).
