to cringe when I see handbags on kitchen works tops?

Is my pet hate. Handbags get put on the floor all the time - on trains, buses, shops, pubs, in the loo. Then people put them on their kitchen work top, or on the kitchen or dining room table when they come in. Do other people avoid doing that? Or just me?

From the picture I saw it seems they hook on the top of the table and have a curved hook that you attach you bag strap to They are sort of 'J' shaped. Very similar to the table cloth holders that you sometime see in holiday restaurants

??

Oh dear. I think I may be losing touch with reality. I thought you said you didn't like handbags on worktops for a moment there....

scottishmummy · 10/11/2009 21:56

i am quite fastidious about my bags i store in their dustbags and clean them.certainly not lolling about on worktop

coffeeinbed · 10/11/2009 22:09

No way on floor. According to my mother this brings swift punishement in form of losing money.
And I certainly don't trust my own cleaning abilities to put it on the kitchen worktop.

Seems like such a long time since I've been out with a handbag rather than a changing bag!

BulletProofMum · 11/11/2009 08:20

I've had a word with the cat but he's didn't respond.

Surely the answer is to get the staff to carry your handbag and disinfect all surfaces as you go?

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 17/11/2009 15:22

This is hilarious/ hysterical

My handbag generally has an inch thick layer of loose tobacco, dry baby wipes , errant tampons, lipstick lids , reciepts etc so I couldn't care less what is on the outside of it.

I am reminded of my friends mother in law who picks up coins using a tissue and cleans them in a glass of coca cola when she gets home. Actually that's quite sad.

thedollshouse · 17/11/2009 15:25

I wouldn't put my bag on the kitchen worktop because it would look untidy. I'm not really fussed about the hygiene issue because I am constantly cleaning the worktops, they are cleaned before I prepare food and after I prepare food so I can't see the problem.

Quote:- The kitchen is for food and crockery only!

You'd have a fit if you saw my kitchen if this is what you really think!

We have a happy (unsanitised) home where we can all live quite normally without panic setting in if something deemed inappropriate is popped on a kitchen surface.

It's a miracle apparently, that I have managed to raise three children and one grandchild without anyone falling ill with food poisoning

Firstly, Faceookaddicts sory about her son weeing into his hand made me laugh out loud in the office.

Secondly, The Devilwearsprimark has described the contents of pretty much all of the bags I own and I will pretty much dump them anywear, including...the floor of a public toilet! I am generally quite slovenly but can not remember the last time I was ill so clearly this terrible habbit of putting bags on floors should not be the end of me.

I generally treat my bags quite awfully. The other day my sons cup leaked in the bottom of my everyday Mulberry bag and has left a nice tide mark in the leather - as you can imagine I would not care about the possible consequences of an antibacterial wipe!
