to be disgusted by the total moron parents who left a note on the car windscreen of my disabled parents' car

My parents, in their mid-80s, both who walk with sticks (my dad who just had a stroke) went to the supermarket. Since all the disabled spaces were filled and they struggle to walk more than a few yards, they parked in a parent and child space and left their disabled badge in the window.

When they returned to their car the following was written on a note on their windscreen. "This space is for parents, you stupid old bastards." This total and utter XXXX must have seen them struggle to walk and still thought that their own right to walk able-bodied with their toddler into a store was more important.

My mum and dad, who are gentle, kind people are so upset. I am so disgusted and upset.

Shame on them indeed. And I would hope the store has a policy of letting disabled people use the p&c spaces first. It's inconvenient for parents to have to park far away from a store but not painful or impossible.

I think they should remove the parent and child and disabled bay signs and put up ones thaat say "idle people and bad parkers only" Then they would be left empty for the people who really need them

Why are the parents ones close to the shop?

I agree they should move them futher away from the store and add some more disabled spaces in their place.

I think P&C spaces should be abolished - agree with riven about the sense of entitlement.

thats disgusting my dad was disabled and used to have trouble finding a disabled bay.

Riven while I don't use them now I was told years ago to register with tesco's parent and child scheme because my boy was disabled and I didn't have a blue badge for him I was always made to feel guilty by people because he looks 'normal' I got sick of it and gave up.

Digusting behaviour by the nasty piece of work who left that note. And stupid on so many levels - not least because P&C isn't a legal category like disabled spaces. So while a parent must not park in a disabled space, a blue badge holder may park in ANY space.

Personally I think P&C spaces can be a lifesaver BUT I'd never EVER think that a disabled person shouldnt have the right to use them.
I personally think that they should be moved from the door cos all I want is the bigger space not the proximity to the store.
Obviously if P&C spaces are full I'll make do but I do enjoy the ability to open the doors fully when taking DD (whos getting heavy now ) out of the car.

My mum has kept the note. I told her to burn it. But she is going to show it to the supermarket manager next time she goes.

I - like a lot of people on here, I'd guess ? were brought up to respect and help the elderly and infirm. To give up seats on buses etc. But now there is a group of parents who use their children to justify their pre-existing selfishness. It's just like "Everyone, out of my way! Make way for His Majesty The Baby"

I think there should be P&C spaces but they do not need to be near the door. Parents just need the space for getting the kids in and out of the car.

I think it´s right that your parents show the note next time.

Maybe in future staff can have a quick check every so often that the disabled parking spaces are being used by those entitled.

And if not, put an announcement over the tannoy!

Dullwitch - I think that's a good idea of your mothers. Maybe the supermarket manager should have a think about communicating that P&C spaces are a courtesy, not a right, and that blue badge holders or anyone with a disability comes first.

Any chance of cctv? Do they cover carparks? The store could make posters of the image and shame the customers on the store doors, at checkouts etc. I've seen this happening more and more frequently with our smaller local shops.

That is one stage beyond awful and completely disrespectful to your parents.

Not only that the mother surely had two legs and could walk unaided. Did a few huundred metres (probably even less) hurt her that much.
