to think many parents who send their children to the lower quality independent schools are so pretentious it is cringeworthy?

Is it due to insecurity? Because I have found the seriously loaded/titled folk are not like that at all.

WTF??? Are you a troll or just up your own arse? Prehaps they are trying to do what they feel is the best for their child's education with the funds they have. Pray tell do your DC's have a private education?

squeaver · 06/11/2009 21:37

JeremyVile · 06/11/2009 21:37

I dont understand.
Do you mean that in choosing a "lower quality" independant school they are making a pretentious choice or that you find that those who do so happen to be pretentious?

MyCatIsABiggerBastardThanYours · 06/11/2009 21:37

Golly, I was just musing over this thought after reading through Xenia's post on the thread about lying to get a place to a good state school.

Basically, she thought people should work harder in order to go to a private school rather than lying to get into the right catchment as private schools gave dc the right accent, more confidence etc.

I would say from my experience if you can't really afford it, independent schools breed a lot of terrible insecurity with parents acting loftier than the queen.

Just wondered if it is only my humble observation.

You say that Xenia thought.

I am not entirely sure what you actually think.
