I don't get the argument "that these people aren't racist, but they vote just BNP".

For me, If you vote BNP, you are a racist. I know this is guilt by association but I think it's fair. What's more, making excuses for those who choose to support these hatemongers makes it more acceptable for them to do so.

I know I wouldn't vote for a party when I didn't know their policies and if I did, I'd feel pretty ashamed that I voted without bothering to find out. To be honest, anyone who votes for the BNP and claims that didn't realise they'd just cosied up to facists needs to give up voting for good.

this is a thread about politics....and about the BNP.... i have watched news reports where BNP voters were interviewed.....they feel ignored and unable to speak out for fear of reprisals....that is a fact..

the only way to understand this is to talk about it...but there is little point here as it goes nowhere..

We should not provide these people with a platform for their racist feelings though instead we should try and educate them to think differently.

so true twofalls. What this thread has shown is that it is impossible to reason with racists. Their views are not based on any logical or reasonable belief system. It is really about the fact that they have nothing else to be proud of other than their colour so they cling desperately to that.

Of course we should bodycolder but 800+ posts and the final knee jerk reaction from DP without having really addresses ANYTHING anyone has said to her on this thread, or answered specific questions shows that they just do not want to listen. Instead, as Moffat says,because their beliefs are not based on reason or logic, they are impossible to reason with. They WANT to cling to to their beliefs, don't want to question their prejudices and claim them are being bullied when people try to question them.

Well I haven't read all 34 pages but a couple of points.
1 I think most people voted BNP because they are fed up with the overwhelming levels of immigration the UK has had to cope with.
My cousin is a plasterer whose business's income supported his wife and 3 children.When the Poles started arriving and living ten people in a 2 bedroomed house ,they worked for a quarter of tghe plasteres normal daily rate.Howe can a married man with a family to support compete with that ?
