FGS.

I need a distraction!

If I share him with you then perhaps you can tell me that he is infact truly awful and then I will feel better?

OK, who's been on here: wiki.answers.com/Q/Is_jonty_bankes_of_the_uogb_married

BettySuarez · 04/09/2009 12:17

That wasn't me honest!

But but but, when was that posted? I am quite convinced that he was married but is no longer?

LackaDAISYcal · 04/09/2009 13:49

or alternatively you can pretend to play the Uke, whilst badgermonkey plays "dream a little dream of you" behind a screen?

He is bound to be wowed by the sentiment

MadBadOnlyReadsTheBroadsheets · 04/09/2009 14:03

Ahem. May I join the all-girls ukulele band, please? I'm a fast learner, although I would be happy to be taught a few chords by the very tall chap.

Another famous lady uke player.

badgermonkey · 04/09/2009 14:08

There you go, Betty, there's a role model to emulate! No red-blooded male could resist. Jonty would be putty in your hands.

Loving the Cyrano de Bergerac idea. I can just imagine pitching it to a film company - "It's like Roxanne...but with ukuleles!"

BoysAreLikeDogs · 04/09/2009 14:12

OMG I listened to them at their Prom this year

FANTASTIC

BettySuarez · 04/09/2009 14:42

Does anyone else fantasise about their rough finger tips

Or is it just me?

GentleOtter · 04/09/2009 18:40

You need a dog, Betty. Find out if he has a dog then where he walks it (he seems a cocker spaniel type), mention how you are learning the ukulele and he will fall madly in love with you. Take bread for feeding the birds to show how kind you are.
The roughty tufty headbangery one does not cut the mustard, I'm afraid but yes, rough fingertips have their merits.

BettySuarez · 04/09/2009 19:29

sorry gentleotter, i didn't mean to palm you off with the headbanger (he could be fun though?)

CockerSpaniel , that's a bit girly surely? I see him as more of a Great Dane type myself (maybe this is wishful thinking )

God I am a sad cow today!

Not like I dont have better things to be doign but then don't we all.

Grandhighpoohba · 04/09/2009 19:31

ooh, NU at all. He is lovely.

PielightIsMyNewLove · 04/09/2009 19:32

arf at palming off a headbanger fnaaaar

BettySuarez · 04/09/2009 19:35

dirty mix - I don't know what you mean (I suspect he does though)

OP posts:
BettySuarez · 04/09/2009 19:37

Betty, could you perhaps stalk my son if it all goes pearshaped with Jonty?. He is a musician in a death metal thrash band but an accomplished musician as well.
I am desperate for grandchildren and have been unsuccesful flogging him on ebay. I will throw in a ukelele.

MadBadOnlyReadsTheBroadsheets · 04/09/2009 20:55

Ok then. When's the first rehearsal of the MN Ladies' Ukulele Ensemble?

dogofpoints · 04/09/2009 21:00

count me in

BettySuarez · 04/09/2009 21:06

dogofpoints - you have kept remarkably quiet throughout this thread until now. I demand that you state your credentials

But welcome!

MadBad - I am practicing as we speak (Uke arrived today - yipee!). I have so far mastered the C, F and G7 Chords (ebough for row row your boat ).

My fingers now feel very sore but this is true love so I will press on when the kids go to bed.

Note to Jonty (re the kids bit), I only have 2 and they are remarkably well behaved so will not get in the way of our relationship or what I am sure will lead to a forthcoming world Ukulele tour

OP posts:
dogofpoints · 04/09/2009 21:10

I've only just seen teh thread, betty. I've fiddled about on the uke for a little while n ow. Not practised in ages but I really must get it out again

MadBadOnlyReadsTheBroadsheets · 04/09/2009 21:23

Betty - Are you sitting down with a nice glass of wine, dear? I am just watching Anarchy in the Ukulele, in order to refine my air ukulele technique (until such time as I have a uke of my own). I couldn't help but notice that Jonty is wearing a ring. But, it was made in 2005 so is virtually ancient history.

Should we bring all our kids on the MN Ladies' Ukulele Ensemble's first world tour? We could start a thread about whether it would be legit to take them in term time.

BettySuarez · 04/09/2009 21:36

Yes, that ring seems to appear then disappear (a bit of a cad maybe?).

More alarmingly is the appearance in some footage of a brown leather jacket I shall have to have words

Do you think that kids would cramp our style MadBad? I mean what if we get groupie?

DogofPoints - welcome to the Ukulele Sisterhood

OP posts:
dogofpoints · 04/09/2009 21:39

hola!

MadBadOnlyReadsTheBroadsheets · 04/09/2009 21:55

Hmm. I am far too fat and tired to (ahem) get groupie. I was imagining that, following our world-acclaimed debut, we would spend an hour or two after every performance signing autographs and giving interviews to the meeja, and then I would retire to my winnebago to eat a bowl of M&Ms with all the red ones taken out before drinking my cocoa and going to bed.

But you may have a different take on the rock and roll lifestyle ....

They've got to Fly Me Off The Handel now, by the way.

LackaDAISYcal · 04/09/2009 22:00

as I suspected DH is refusing to buy me a ukelel until I pick up the guitar he bought me three birthdays ago...meanie

Can I be roadie? or drive the tour bus? (oh lord can you imagine? )

maybe the ring is to deter mad stalkers protect him from overkeen fans?

paisleyleaf · 04/09/2009 22:03

I've been learning online. (there are n half some ukelele nutters on youtube - really funny stuff).
I want to get my confidence up to join in with these guys
this guy is truly inspiring though

MadBadOnlyReadsTheBroadsheets · 04/09/2009 22:08

Daisy - I would never seek to sow discord between man and wife, but I cannot help but notice that one can buy a ukulele online for as little as £14. As this will contribute to your wellbeing and enhance your mood, it must be good for you. And what is good for you is (naturally) good for your children. Ergo it must be an appropriate use of the child benefit.

Just a thought.
