To be a bit annoyed that my cleaner made herself a cuppa?

Have had a cleaner for about 8 weeks. On first visit I offered her a cuppa as I was having one but she declined and said she always brought her own drinks with her [pointed to cool bag].

I usually let her in and clear off with the DCs while she's there but last week I came back a bit earlier than normal and noticed she'd made herself a brew.

I'm not really pissed off but it's niggling at me. Isn't there and unwritten rule that they shouldn't go in your cupboards/drawers?

But you brought your own situation into it. So it becomes up for grabs. It's a bugger, but it happens. Personal comments bad of course. But you have given as you have received I think.

serendippity · 20/08/2009 18:31

Kittywise- Yes I was making a point, which i suspect you did see and chose to ignore. Then cover it up with an insult.
Your attitude is very "un MN" I can tell you spend so little time on here.

HaggisNeepsnTatties · 20/08/2009 18:34

I always offer a cuppa in my house - regardless if they are visitors/cleaners/workmen etc. To me it is the polite thing to do.

My cleaner is cleaning up my shit so its the least I can do...

kittywise · 20/08/2009 18:44

Your cleaner is paid to clean up your shit.

HaggisNeepsnTatties · 20/08/2009 18:46

I know. However, the workmen who come to fix my boiler are also paid to fix my boiler. The tiler was paid to tile my bathroom. I offered them a cuppa. It's manners but then that was how I was brought up....they cost nothing you know.

loopylil · 20/08/2009 18:49

maybe if she shoved a broom up her backside whilst boiling the kettle it would mitigate her laziness oh hold on the only lazy one here is you, do your own cleaning if you don't like it then you can work yourself into dehydration.
the whole british work ethic argument... yawn
id actually need a vodka working three hrs cleaning up your crap... she should sip water? where would that be taken from m'lady the outside guttering?
think yourself lucky shes blagging a cuppa, you sound power mad and unreasonable........

loobylu3 · 20/08/2009 18:50

ice age, I understand your point about boundaries and agree with you. I'm sure this is what the OP was getting at too and a lot of people perhaps 'got the wrong end of the stick'. However, I personally wouldn't have been unhappy with my cleaner helping herself to tea. (I guess we all have different boundaries).
I still disagree about Kitty behaving in the same way though as she has said that she does not make tea at all and would dismiss someone who made herself a drink!

foreverchanges · 20/08/2009 18:52

cant believe this thread has so many posta

what happened to the milk of human kindness ?

loopylil · 20/08/2009 18:53

the cleaner used it in her tea

kittywise · 20/08/2009 18:56

no one tries to blag a cuppa, what nonsense are you spouting?

I see the evening crowd have wondered in with no real idea about what's been going on.

I am happy to offer workmen cuppas, one off's are fine

kittywise · 20/08/2009 18:58

ha, ha not lazy rofl, just lucky enough to get someone else to clear up my crap. It's great I don't have to do it all myself isn't it?

kittywise · 20/08/2009 18:58

wandered not wondered

expatinscotland · 20/08/2009 19:00

No way, Haggis! You should be charging them for milk, sugar, teabags, hot water to wash the cups and for use of the loo when they need a wee after drinking the mild diuretic that is tea.

And you know builders who are in your home for weeks are different from cleaners!

Good heavens, what is this world coming to?!

My GP is paid to treat me, but that's no excuse to treat him like crap.

kittywise · 20/08/2009 19:04

no you should certainly not treat your gp like crap

vintagequeen · 20/08/2009 19:05

i pay for mine to go on holiday to visit her family, and she is not a live in. Plse give her my details i am offended when she does not eat or drink anything.

expatinscotland · 20/08/2009 19:05

I once had a GP, however, who could truly have benefited from a slap or the odd kick up the jacksie.

Megglevache · 20/08/2009 19:07

She probably has herpes and hasn't bothered washing your cups you know!

kittywise · 20/08/2009 19:08

vintagequeen · 20/08/2009 19:10

NonGratisAnusDailyMail · 20/08/2009 19:16

kitty, you know I reckon that in rl you really are a nice, kind and reasonable person. It's only when you come on MN and fancy a ruck do you air such unpleasantries.

kittywise · 20/08/2009 19:18

I am a nice person

Yes I can be unpleasant on MN but far far less so than many posters.

I do hold strong views about many things though that much is true
