to wonder why another MNer would randomly send me a CAT message asking me to indulge in slagging off other threads?

Never heard of this MNer before (but then I have only been around here for a year and regularly posting for about 6 months). Claims to be posting under a new name but was previously someone else on here - whose name I have seen on threads - and asks me to indulge in some slagging off of threads. Ignored message and then find myself being referred to as "poncetastic" on a thread I posted. Can accept the accusation....probably am a bit poncetastic at times....but all seems very strange "coincidence".

AIBU to wonder question posted in title of thread?

AIBU to think this is pathetic behaviour?

AIBU to think that this kind of trolling etc happens all too often on MN?

(am trying to steer clear of starting a thread about a thread issues here ).

MP appears to be morphing into Bridget Jones at an alarming rate

morningpaper · 23/07/2009 14:10

OMG and I AM wearing the most ENORMOUS support pants today which come up to my armpits

pagwatch · 23/07/2009 14:11

But it is odd isn't it?

People bitch about discuss people in RL because there may be a social fallout - you may have to work with them, you might be friends with their DH or you might be avoiding a family ruck.
But this is an on-line open forum so why the duplicity. Why not just post what you think? Change names if you want?
I think it is the need to seek cronies that seems odd to me.

Contacting people you feel friendly with off line seems natural. But seeking others to bitch about something when you could just post what you think just strikes me as a bit weird. And honestly, a little bit spineless.

But maybe I am odd. i am quite prepared that maybe I am odd. Perhaps if you all speak slowley and use short words....

RedLollyYellowLolly · 23/07/2009 14:15

MP, I KNEW it!

slyandgobbo · 23/07/2009 14:17

Hey, mp, you and I have actually exchanged emails about book stuff. But I am spooky multiple personality disorder nutter namechanger so you won't realise tis me.

SpawnChorus · 23/07/2009 14:19

Just to clarify, I wasn't really bullied. The shitness was more to do with never feeling part of a group as it generally necessitated back-stabbing and secret snidiness, for which I seem poorly equipped! I would probably have been deeply popular as a boy at an all boys' school, where I could have attracted allies by means of my farting prowess and unfeasibly attractive sister.

morningpaper · 23/07/2009 14:19

and I have exchanged emails about slyandgobbo about book stuff

I haven't noticed any slagging off at meetups, everyone is far too terrified and having trouble standing upright in their shoes and breathing in their posh clothes and listening to SGB talking about naked discos (at least that's how I remember it)

random · 23/07/2009 14:21

Thing is tho Pagwatch if you dare to slag off disagree with some people on this forum all their cronies friends leap on you to defend them ...I've seen it happen time and time again

pagwatch · 23/07/2009 14:21

at MP.
Perhaps that is just your recollection. Perhaps your big knickers had cut off circulation to your head causing you to hallucinate...

KingRolo · 23/07/2009 14:21

Pagwatch - I think for some people MN is their RL.

SammyK · 23/07/2009 14:23

am left disappointed but not surprised TBH.

pagwatch · 23/07/2009 14:23

Ah. Fair point KR

( and all short words....)

KingRolo · 23/07/2009 14:23

MP - is that how to identify a Mnetter then? They're the ones unable to stand up in shoes?

I can never go to a meet up. Don't have posh clothes.

slyandgobbo · 23/07/2009 14:24

Actually on the subject of CAT dsclosures am feeling a bit sentimental. I think mine are:

  • being CATed to recommend friend's therapist to someone with PND;
  • being CATed about Maine coon cats;
  • several incredibly sweet CATs when was asking anxiously about local hospital as venue for delivering DC3;
  • unbelievably sweet CAT from local MNer offering to take me out baby clothes shopping when excessively pregnant and feeble.

Never ahve understood MSN

snice · 23/07/2009 14:29

I don't know anyone in RL
Have not been to a meet-up
Have never CATed another MN
Am in no FB groups
Never been on a post/ante natal thread
Don't understand MSN
Have never been namechecked on a thread

I officially don't exist

TutTutter · 23/07/2009 14:30

oh, and what mamag said

(
I have bitched about a thread off MN
I have bitched about a MNER off line )

(apart from the shame bit)

AitchTwoOh · 23/07/2009 14:32

i have bitched about snice. i'm not sure that's going to make her feel better, though.

snice · 23/07/2009 14:33

No its made me cry

cornsillk · 23/07/2009 14:34
slyandgobbo · 23/07/2009 14:35

I want to CAT snice now so I can send her cakes. But would ahve to work out how to pay the fiver...

AitchTwoOh · 23/07/2009 14:35

no no NOOOOO.
i did think about putting (joke) but i thought it was so obvious. you were joking, weren't you?

snice · 23/07/2009 14:36

Hooked you on and reeled you in

snice · 23/07/2009 14:36

But would still like cakes

AitchTwoOh · 23/07/2009 14:37

oh thank GOD.

CurryMaid · 23/07/2009 14:37

Aitch - you're part of the reason I now change my name a lot - in a convo about regulars you said you were shocked I was new as you recognised me from so many posts.

I don't want to be known here or recognised by anyone from RL so now I change names fairly often.

Wish I could just give up coming here altogether though
