I understand if it is for a medical need.

I know this will kick off but have people not heard of contaception, it makes me so that people have to make these decisions.

Yes, because women have terminations for shits and giggles
Have you not heard of accidents?

HollyBunda · 20/07/2009 14:00

it makes you so what for them? angry? sympathetic? Judgmental!

Feck off troll! Life isn't always perfect perfect. Sometimes people make mistakes.
and oh gosh! Sometimes people even get pregnant when using contraception!

SouthMum · 20/07/2009 14:00

You do know that sometimes contraception fails don't you?

londonone · 20/07/2009 14:01

YABU to think that a lot is spelled alot.

hf128219 · 20/07/2009 14:01

Why not let people make their own choices dickhead?

Frasersmum123 · 20/07/2009 14:01

This will end in tears.

HuwEdwards · 20/07/2009 14:02

which women?

I don't know of any.

What are you talking about?

shootfromthehip · 20/07/2009 14:02

Do you have any stats to suggest that the termination rate has suddenly exploded? I for one would be interested to see them

Iklboo · 20/07/2009 14:02

And it's your business because?

proverbial · 20/07/2009 14:02

so not a troll? Nice bit of subtefue with the name but you might want to be a little less troll like if you want to sneak one past us.

Yawn.

GypsyMoth · 20/07/2009 14:03

love the word 'troll' in your name tho........nice one!!

blissa · 20/07/2009 14:03

Great name

I should ignore this as it's a bit close to the bone for me at the minute, but what is the point in starting this thread?

Things happen, people mess up, and it's a decision that has to be lived with for the rest of your life.

motherinferior · 20/07/2009 14:03

There have always been lots of women terminating pregnancy. They did it when it wasn't legal - and therefore often conducted in life-threatening circumstances; they did it when it wasn't socially acceptable to talk about.

Now, women terminating pregnancies are discussing it. That's the difference.

hercules1 · 20/07/2009 14:03

Yes, because of a few minutes of passion, I believe the adults should be made to bring an unwanted child into the world and suffer the consequences for the rest of their lives.

nightshade · 20/07/2009 14:05

what makes you think a lot of people are having terminations?

why is it any different for medical reasons?

at the end of the day, deciding to terminate a pregnancy is an incredibly difficult decision, with long term impact and one that you will only appreciate when you have been in the situation.

ComeOVeneer · 20/07/2009 14:06

Sonotatroll my arse. Start a thread post again 1.5 mins later because nobody has already bitten!

potplant · 20/07/2009 14:06

I don't know if 'alot of women are having terminations at the moment'.

I take no notice about these things because it is none of my business what other women do.

I was'nt aware that abortion rates had went up in recent times!?!

By the sounds of your OP you seem to be more concerned about their reasons than the actual numbers, has someone hit a raw nerve or something?

sleeplessinstretford · 20/07/2009 14:11

i need something clearing up here. if the pill is 99% safe-does that mean that for every 100 incidences of sex that occurs one person will get pregnant? or does it mean that over a year, one percent of people taking the pill will get pregnant?
you should be less judgey-there but for the grace of god go any of us.

BalloonSlayer · 20/07/2009 14:18

Sleepless, In my experience of taking the pill for years and knowing other people who have also done so, I reckon it means that if the pill is taken correctly (because it often is not) then for one in a hundred people, it won't work.

I know a couple of people who have got pregnant on the pill, but they didn't take it properly, eg missed one now and then. I also know of people who did take it properly and got pregnant - these latter ones are the 1% I think.

notcitrus · 20/07/2009 14:20

sleepless - I think it's 1% of women get pregnant over a year, having had sex twice a week all year.

No comment to the troll...

Qally · 20/07/2009 14:20

sleepless - it's the latter, and I think the odds are actually even lower than that. But that's still a LOT of women, when you think how many use it. Some women will even get pregnant using Depo-Provera, which is the safest form there is, other than abstinence or tubal ligation.
