To think this is the worse film I have EVER seen?

I think I am still in mild shock.

Had a bit of time to kill yesterday afternoon so thought I'd watch a bit of telly. Blues Brothers 2000 was on. Loved the original and whilst I didnt think this would match it, it did have an impressive cast so thought I would give it a go.

Have you SEEN it It was so bad it sort of mesmerised me. It was like it was started without a script or plot line and they sort of chucked things at it as they went along.

At one point a voodoo queen turned them all into green zombies so they would play crappy pop/jazz fusion. There were also animated skeleton cowboys riding on skeleton cows, a car driving under water for at least a mile (not a special car, just a car), a black policeman levatating through the roof of a revival meeting and turning into the 3rd blues brother on his way down, a car pile up that went on for about 5 minutes long after anyone driving behind the first few cars would have realised something was up and Russian gangsters who turned into rats.

Twas mad. How the hell did they get James Brown and Eric Clapton involved in that?

John Goodman was in it. I am wondering if he produced it. I think he has a history of these vanity projects.

Anyone got it on DVD? I think I need to see it one more time.

So am I right or is there a worse film?

sorry snakes on a plane was quality. don't know how i forgot that one. the rest (all star wars,51st state anything else, all rubbish)

and there is no way i am stepping down over fight club or groundhog day. bill murray is just hilarious. the fact that you can't recognise the brilliance of these movies or ice ice baby, just shows that you lack taste in multiple mediums, not just one.

WORD

FairLadyRantALot · 26/05/2009 11:09

I quite like a lot of the Adam Sandler movie...doesn't ever stop me getting Adam Sandler confused with Ben Stiller though...no idea why that is...lol

GetOrfMoiLand · 26/05/2009 11:11

I watched Snakes on a Plane last night straight after watching Airplane, it definitely suffered by comparison.

I disagree with anyone who says that Groundhog Day is crap, the film is genius. Also love Rita, Sue & Bob. Plus have a very soft spot for Escape to Victory, bless 'em.

Another contender has got to be the Sex and the City film. Makes my feminist synapses explode.

Docbunches · 26/05/2009 12:12

I'm slightly embarrassed to admit that I LOVED watching Pearl Harbor the other night on TV, if only to drool over Josh Hartnett who I've developed a mild obsession with . Admittedly, the dialogue and acting were shockingly bad though.

HolyGuacamole · 26/05/2009 12:19

Oh yes, I've not seen sex and the city, but I just know I couldn't put myself thru it, same with rom-coms, chick flicks, films about weddings (apart from meet the parents and fockers which I love), yuck, yuck, yuck.

My DH recently watched Transformers, I glanced at it occasionally and it looked awful. Also didn't get lost in translation, thought it was very boring.

PuppyMonkey · 26/05/2009 12:27

Well, I hate, hate, hate Donnie Darko.

And Brokeback Mountain.

And Lost in Translation was lost on me.

I am Legend has a crap ending. As do most films these days I think.

But I love Groundhog Day and Fight Club.

Has anyone mentioned The Butterfly Effect?

Awful awful awful. DH's mate raved about it and it was the most depressing pile of tosh ever.

ChocolateRabbit · 26/05/2009 13:56

Completely agree about Donnie Darko and although quite sleepily watchable Lost in Translation isn't a film I'd pay to see...

However, all other crap films pale into insignificance for me against the horror of the Star Wars prequels. Not only are they so disappointing and dire (Natalie Portman - what were you thinking?) but they actually ruin the original films for me now and I used to love them.

Also can't bear to think of the 4+ hours of life (not to mention £10+) spent watching the Pirates of the Caribbean sequels. Come up with a story and then make it into a film. Its not that difficult.

Thunderduck · 26/05/2009 14:01

I love the Star Wars prequels.

FairLadyRantALot · 26/05/2009 14:10

oh yeah Brokeback Mountain....I found really boring...and it could have been really good, but it just wasn't

satine · 26/05/2009 14:17

Sorry - Robin Hood Men In Tights is officially the worst film ever made. No question. I even spent my hard-earned money to see it in a cinema (was persuaded into it by then-boyfriend). It was AWFUL.

Iklboo · 26/05/2009 14:27

Sockmonkey - which ending did The Butterfly effect have for you? Apparently there are 3 different endings. 1 is rather dark and didn't go down well with test audiences, 1 is schmaltzy bull poo and 1 in mnerrr.

I hated Mulholland Drive. What was it all about???

Dior · 26/05/2009 14:30

Oh, again, I love Donnie Darko AND Mulholland Drive...

mayorquimby · 26/05/2009 15:01

"Bet you love ' E's are good ' too dontcha?"

ha ha i'd forgotten that song even existed. now that is a god awful song.

got to agree with people saying donnie darko.
but also if anyone saw "closer" with clive owen etc, that was piece of pseudo-intelligent, trying far too hard to be edgy bullshit.

Piffle · 26/05/2009 15:04

Has anyone mentioned Alexander?

FigmentOfYourImagination · 26/05/2009 15:09

Talking Tom shortarse Cruise, has anyone mentioned Cocktail.

Saw a stand up comedian once who said that all Tom Cruise films are basically the same:

Cocktail...he's a cocktail waiter...falls in love with a girl...faces adversity...loses the girl...wins through and becomes a great cocktail waiter...gets the girl back..happy ending

Days of Thunder...he's a racing driver...falls in love with a girl...faces adversity...loses the girl...wins through and becomes a great racing driver...gets the girl back...happy ending

Top Gun...he's a fighter pilot...falls in love with a girl...faces adversity...loses the girl...wins through and becomes a great fighter pilot...gets the girl back...happy ending

Jerry Maguire...he's a sports agent...falls in love with a girl...faces adversity...loses the girl...wins through and becomes a great sports agent...gets the girl back

mayorquimby · 26/05/2009 15:13

seen that comedian too. who is it again (ritch hall maybe?)
except i remembered it as "he has a crisis of confidece..." instead of faces adversity

GetOrfMoiLand · 26/05/2009 15:23

Yes, that's it, crisis of confidence. Made me laugh.

It seems that Tom Cruise hatred is pretty universal (yay).

ChocolateRabbit · 26/05/2009 16:00

I agree Closer was rubbish but sadly the film was much much better than the play which basically was the whole film script. The actors in the play were pretty good, the whole thing was just a bit too up itself which didn't annoy quite as much on film - partly because £3 not £40

sockmonkey · 26/05/2009 17:11

iklboo - it was a sad ending. Basically he killed himself in the womb because it was best for everyone that he was never born. Great message there

Thunderduck · 26/05/2009 18:28

I love Robin Hood Men In Tights. It always makes me laugh.

And I love Far And Away too. It's my favourite comfort film.
