To think this is the worse film I have EVER seen?

I think I am still in mild shock.

Had a bit of time to kill yesterday afternoon so thought I'd watch a bit of telly. Blues Brothers 2000 was on. Loved the original and whilst I didnt think this would match it, it did have an impressive cast so thought I would give it a go.

Have you SEEN it It was so bad it sort of mesmerised me. It was like it was started without a script or plot line and they sort of chucked things at it as they went along.

At one point a voodoo queen turned them all into green zombies so they would play crappy pop/jazz fusion. There were also animated skeleton cowboys riding on skeleton cows, a car driving under water for at least a mile (not a special car, just a car), a black policeman levatating through the roof of a revival meeting and turning into the 3rd blues brother on his way down, a car pile up that went on for about 5 minutes long after anyone driving behind the first few cars would have realised something was up and Russian gangsters who turned into rats.

Twas mad. How the hell did they get James Brown and Eric Clapton involved in that?

John Goodman was in it. I am wondering if he produced it. I think he has a history of these vanity projects.

Anyone got it on DVD? I think I need to see it one more time.

So am I right or is there a worse film?

But I did enjoy Juno

pollyblue · 25/05/2009 20:31

"Lair of the White Worm". Words can't describe.

lalalonglegs · 25/05/2009 20:34

No, BoF, Juno was truly abysmal - schmaltz dressed up as sass, sooooo disappointing (despite having half the cast of the Arrested Development - Jason Bateman, what were you thinking?)

girlandboy · 25/05/2009 20:34

The Dark Knight.

We switched it off with half an hour still to go because we couldn't stand it any longer.

Utter tripe

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 25/05/2009 20:36

cornsilk · 25/05/2009 20:38

Matrix 2 and 3.

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 25/05/2009 20:41

keanu reeves and al pacino 'devils advocate' GREAT film but with the most wank ending ever!!!

yama · 25/05/2009 20:44

Got it!

The Parole Officer.

God, I can't stand Steve Coogan and this is possibly the worst thing he has ever done.

kiddiz · 25/05/2009 20:59

"Haven't heard the Tom Hanks critics mention Castaway - did that one get your approval?"

bubbleymummy watching Castaway is the only time I have fallen asleep in the cinema!!!

sheepgomeep · 26/05/2009 00:23

whispers quietly 'I like mamma mia'

nooka · 26/05/2009 04:22

So why are you guys always going to see films you don't like? We get to the cinema so rarely now it has to rate over about 90% on the Tomatometer Before the children we saw loads of stuff, but all classic and well researched art house kind of things (some strange, but none crap). Before that came the films that were on in our university town (few and far between really as it was a single screen cinema) that we watched on my babysitting money because my cousin or I fancied someone (I still find it difficult that I used to fancy Tom Cruise until I found out he was a bout 5' tall. Now as we all know he is a weirdo too it is even more indefensible!). Some of those films were undoubtedly crap, but we didn't care!

HolyGuacamole · 26/05/2009 06:46

Aw I loved Fight Club.

Worst film: Snakes On A Plane
The only film that's made me walk out of the cinema (so I can only actually vouch for the fist 20 minutes of it being shite as I never saw the rest): Pret A Porter
Also crap: Blair Witch Project

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 26/05/2009 07:04

The day the earth stood still and The curious case of benjamin button are both beyond tedious to watch.

I don't understand people who complain about Mamma Mia, SURELY you knew what it was going to be like before you went and therefore if you were not a fan of Abba or musicals or relentlessly upbeat films you would not go?

Sibble · 26/05/2009 07:17

Too many pages to read so based on this page - loved Juno but saw it long haul so might have affected my judgement, hated Mama Mia (love Abba, Love musicals) warmed once I worked out they weren't supposed to be able to sing , but then I didn't like the stage show either.

Worse films - Room with a View, Accidental Witness (only film I've ever fallen asleep through) and the Piano................

and dare I say it Pulp Fiction and Strictly Ballroom. but then I hate anything with whatshisname from the Office in. Just took ds's to see Night at the Museum and he spoilt it for me.

lalalonglegs · 26/05/2009 08:51

Yes, it came to me this morning, the bad film to trump all your half-hearted attempts at controversy: Human Traffic. Just dire piece of drivel set around Cardiff's rave scene with (the otherwise excellent) John Simm and the (reliably useless) Danny Dwyer. Got tonnes of good reviews as critics were so desperate to be down wiv de kids. Embarrassingly lame.

FairLadyRantALot · 26/05/2009 10:13

oh, just thought of another movie which I thought was utter shite..."Lost in Translation"....I just didn't get it....

Dior · 26/05/2009 10:30

LOVE:

Moulin Rouge
Fight CLub
Apollo 13
Dogma
Boogie Nights
Lost in Translation

I must have appalling taste in films or the people that hate them are missing something

Dior · 26/05/2009 10:31

OMG! Room with a View is FANTASTIC.

mayorquimby · 26/05/2009 10:32

what is wrong with some people. groundhog day and fight club and the matrix (if you can watch it and not think about the sequels" are all brilliant.
now the sex and the city movie was painful,as was "good luck chuck" (in fairness dane cook is just not funny), most movies with samuel l jackson since pulp fiction (really does the guy just accept every single role he's offered?).

although the worst movie i've ever seen? easily "elizabeth town" with orlando bloom and kirsten dunst. the GF hasn't been allowed to choose what movie we see since then.

Now, I think I have won the prize for the worst film ever. I watched (accompanied by small children who were entranced) a film called Fishtales (see what they did there), starring Kelly Brook and Billy Zane. Kelly Brook plays a mermaid and Billy Zane plays an Oxford professor of classics . They fall in love, etc etc. Truly, truly awful in a watching the screen in a google-eyed horror kind of way. It makes that Daryl Hanna Splash crap look like the zenith of filmmaking.

Other contenders would have to be:

Snakes on a Plane - goes without saying
Big Daddy (actually, anything starring that twat Adam Sandler) - violent, misogynistic crap
Babel. What a ridiculous load of pretentious tosh.
Any Star Trek film
