To think this is the worse film I have EVER seen?

I think I am still in mild shock.

Had a bit of time to kill yesterday afternoon so thought I'd watch a bit of telly. Blues Brothers 2000 was on. Loved the original and whilst I didnt think this would match it, it did have an impressive cast so thought I would give it a go.

Have you SEEN it It was so bad it sort of mesmerised me. It was like it was started without a script or plot line and they sort of chucked things at it as they went along.

At one point a voodoo queen turned them all into green zombies so they would play crappy pop/jazz fusion. There were also animated skeleton cowboys riding on skeleton cows, a car driving under water for at least a mile (not a special car, just a car), a black policeman levatating through the roof of a revival meeting and turning into the 3rd blues brother on his way down, a car pile up that went on for about 5 minutes long after anyone driving behind the first few cars would have realised something was up and Russian gangsters who turned into rats.

Twas mad. How the hell did they get James Brown and Eric Clapton involved in that?

John Goodman was in it. I am wondering if he produced it. I think he has a history of these vanity projects.

Anyone got it on DVD? I think I need to see it one more time.

So am I right or is there a worse film?

Watched Mamma Mia with dh, and kept giving each other sidelong glances as to who was going to first admit this much hyped film was utter rubbish!

Agree also about Blues Bros & I cannot stand Austin Powers, I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than watch that dross again.

chegirl · 24/05/2009 23:03

shine maybe but I think its more likely that 'omg there goes two hours of my life I will never get back' is a fairly stock response to seeing Mama Mia

But you can still be my friend if you like

A.I. is by far the most godawful film I have ever seen, although come to think of it, Maybe Baby is pretty dire.

I liked Moulin Rouge, Groundhog Day, Dogma and Charlie's Angels, though!

chegirl · 24/05/2009 23:04

I dont know why I though anyone on MN would have seen it. I bet you were all doing impoving things with your DCs yesterday afternoon

smoking aces has got to be the shittest filmn ever made.

Angels and demons is also on my "shit films" list as is Maybe Baby

BexieID · 24/05/2009 23:11

I love Apollo 13, know most of it by heart . I can't think of any films off hand that I thought were complete and utter pants apart from Blue Velvet we had to watch in Film Studies. Citizen Kane was just about bearable.

chegirl · 24/05/2009 23:12

Miracle of the Cards is on the top of my list. I mean BB200 is genius in its awfulness but Miracle of the Cards is offensive in every way.

Apollo 13 and Groundhog Day are great films. Not

Ditto, Moulin Rouge is dire

Pretty Woman is, however, dreadful

BelfastBloke · 24/05/2009 23:19

ShineOn, you said: "Try ' Fight Club ' for a truly awful film. I also fecking hated Groundhog Day. And Appollo 13."

Aren't you embarrassed at parading your utter wrongness in public?

Just because you retrieved your dignity a bit with being correct about Mamma Mia, doesn't excuse spouting such rubbish earlier in the thread!

EightiesChick · 24/05/2009 23:23

Top 10 for me, not necessarily in this order:

  1. Oscar (30s set Sylvester Stallone 'comedy')
  2. Kissing Jessica Stein (awful ending without much to shout about beforehand)
  3. Fierce Creatures (Fish Called Wanda follow-up with zero laughs)
  4. Surviving Christmas (I love all Xmas films usually but this is really shit)
  5. Lost In Space (all the explanation you ever need for why Matt LeBlanc doesn't have a big-screen career after Friends)
  6. Knocked Up (I know everyone else thought it was really sweet; I just thought it basically said that women who get pregnant have to give up any hope of a reasonable job or man and be grateful to settle for a slob)
  7. Planet of the Apes remake (just wrong)
  8. Splitting Heirs (more British film 'hilarity')
  9. Batman and Robin (George's darkest hour)
10. New in Town (Renee Zellweger film out a few months ago - I went because it was a parent-and-baby screening and I was taking any chance to get out I could. Big mistake. Not at all funny and every scene and plot development screamingly obvious)

Haven't seen Blues Bros 2000 and now I know to steer clear!

cookielove · 24/05/2009 23:23

I hope none have you have seen 'stealth' as that is truely awful and god 'mamma mia' why do so many people like that crap. oh and 'sunshine' i think thats what its called is a complete waste of money and time and i'm sure i can think of loads more

snice · 24/05/2009 23:27

cookielove · 24/05/2009 23:30

chegirl · 24/05/2009 23:36

I went to see confessions of a shopaholic because I like clothes.

It managed to put me off shopping.

OP posts:
mrsruffallo · 24/05/2009 23:38

That's not the only reason I like it though
