...........I cannot keep up.

active convos are whizzing ppast so quickly I am missing if someone comes on a thread I have started/replied on until ages after, and then I fear people think I am being rude if I don;t reply/respond.

MN is fab, really it is, but when I come here for some light relief/downtime/soothing-like-minded-chat, I want to feel as tho I am contributing to it, or even > being acknowledged as a decent member.

and on a friday, it all moves so damn fast, it feels as tho I am swimming (well, fighting more like) against the current.

BOF, when you walk walk with the lead in a loop so that there is plenty of slack in your hand then, when she/he starts pulling, drop the slack and walk in a different direction. You don't need to yank or pull or anything just start walking and she/he will follow, no words, don't look at him/her. You need to do it every time they pull so they learn fast, each time you don't do it confuses the issue. In an older dog it would probably take a good few days of consistancy and they will start to keep an eye on you and where you are going rather than racing off to the next thing.

You can also do it when they are off the lead to reinforce the message, again, just start walking off in random directions when they are not really looking and they will start to keep a better eye on you all the time.

Trinity, you can use that one when you are walking too, it helps if the dog thinks that you may dissapear at any moment!

With the other dog thing more practice on recall will help also obedience classes, doing the classes means they have to learn to ignore other dogs when you are giving commands.

Oh and try teaching a distance "down" command. Putting them in a down makes them stop and breaks their concentration so a recall is more likely to work.

TrinityIsLovingHerLittleRhino · 22/05/2009 21:26

why dont I get a half term now

not fair
I wanna think I have all that time to recover from drinking too much tonight and tomorrow

TrinityIsLovingHerLittleRhino · 22/05/2009 21:27

I want to take him to obedieance classes but I have no idea where to look for them or anything

KingCanuteIAm · 22/05/2009 21:27

KingCanuteIAm · 22/05/2009 21:31

PT sounds like a nightmare - especially if you need something quick!

Shiney, your rabbit sounds like he has problems but they are when he is in the hutch?

Perhaps he just finds it too intimidating having someone lean in like that?
