...........I cannot keep up.

active convos are whizzing ppast so quickly I am missing if someone comes on a thread I have started/replied on until ages after, and then I fear people think I am being rude if I don;t reply/respond.

MN is fab, really it is, but when I come here for some light relief/downtime/soothing-like-minded-chat, I want to feel as tho I am contributing to it, or even > being acknowledged as a decent member.

and on a friday, it all moves so damn fast, it feels as tho I am swimming (well, fighting more like) against the current.

Trinity, it's all in the tone I think- you need to aim for authoritative menace, like with the kids... Not that it works on kids, mind.

I need King to tell me how I stop Pepper pulling on the lead and choking herself < sits patiently in queue >

canute... our connection is slower than dial up

stoopid O2 dongle in an area with no mobile reception, we're lucky if we pull 5kb/s

broadband man was supposed to come yesterday but drove 100 miles in the wrong direction as he read the town name wrong.... > he may never get here!

Trinity, it is probably because he doesn't really believe you! Dogs learn that they are able to ignore in the same way they learn any other behaviour. You need to make sure that he always does what you want when you want it, so if you say sit make sure he does it first time, don't keep saying it as that teaches him he can ignore you and do it when he is ready IYSWIM.

The recall, practise at home, loads of smelly treats, lots of praise when it is right. If he doesn't do it first time go and get him and bring to where you wanted him, get him to sit down (no treat no words) then walk away and do it again.

When you are out make sure you get him back regularly for a treat, occasionally ask him to come back and sit, then treat him and make a really big fuss before letting him go again.

Anyway, that is what I would try - but don't quote me, my puppy has just emptied a full bin and a house plant across my dining room and kitchen

PinkTulips · 22/05/2009 21:10

trinity... i'm alreay evil incarnate by smoking a couple a day so drinking too would probably require me to just start digging my way to the gates of hell right now

he's only 3 months and a bloody vampire real milk lover

Blimey, this thread is going too fast for me - lucky I am steering clear of Active Convos!

Shiney, nope, I am not an attentions seeker - am I?

Psycho, do you mind having your thread turned into an animal training school temporarily? I could charge a bottle of wine per tip and we could split the proceeds?

PT slower than dial up? That must be really frustrating!

Shiney, I don't go near rabbits I am afraid, they scare me! I would go with the pie option myself

ingles2 · 22/05/2009 21:17

Right, we've viewed rockhopper, picked up some strange plant and hunted for treasure and finally they are in bed

I've got a feeling this holiday is going to be hard work!
Right...what's this about a biting rabbit?
