Oh bleurgh! - how can you defile perfectly good lager in that way . I suppose you like shandy too?

notnowbernard · 24/04/2009 22:46

Yuk

nappyaddict · 24/04/2009 22:46

You can't drink corona without lime! I know plenty of blokes who drink corona like that.

I prefer lager and black myself though.

fryalot · 24/04/2009 22:46

oh fgs, you girls!!! get a pint of good old british bitter down yer necks

whoingodsnameami · 24/04/2009 22:47

lol, I used to like lime in lager too, when I first stared drinking, hmmm, aged about 15

Thunderduck · 24/04/2009 22:47

Apologies for the hijack but as a non drinker what's the difference between lager, beer and ale?

Ronaldinhio · 24/04/2009 22:48

stella and lime (pint of)

delicious summer beverage

notnowbernard · 24/04/2009 22:48

I love a bottle of Corona or Sol with a slice of lime

But can't abide a pint with some God-awful lime cordial spoiling it

I am posh, obviously

nappyaddict · 24/04/2009 22:49

oh know not lime cordial. foul stuff. doesn't even taste of limes.

hmc · 24/04/2009 22:49

lager gassy but good on a hot day (more thirst quenching). Usually pale in colour.

Beer / ale - smells yeasty, usually dark brown, different sort of taste. Served at ambient temperature. Makes you flatulent.

wheresclaire · 24/04/2009 22:50

I went off on one today because DH used up the last of MY lime to make a glass of squash. So that means my lager is lime free tonight and it is just not the same!

thunderduck - lager is a really sweet, fizzy drink drunk by girls

beer is more bitter in taste and generally more flavoursome, and with infinite variety - there's one to suit almost any taste.

ale generally is the term used for "real ale" which comes in casks and is served through a hand pump rather than an electric pump like lager

SlartyBartFast · 24/04/2009 22:51

i heart a bitter shandy

wheresclaire · 24/04/2009 22:52

Anyone else get horribly drunk at the student union in years gone by on Snakebite and black? Now that was a wicked drink!

OP posts:
fryalot · 24/04/2009 22:52

and some beers make some people flatulent

Thunderduck · 24/04/2009 22:54

Thankyou for the explanation.

I must admit they all taste equally horrid to me.

nappyaddict · 24/04/2009 23:04

wheresclaire i still get horrendously drunk on snakey b!

BigBellasBeerBelly · 24/04/2009 23:04

You need a snakebite n black thunderduck.

Proper starter drink. Tastes like ribena, slips down nicely, utterly lethal.

It was banned from all the pubs in north london (and further afield maybe? but I can only vouch for NL) for about 10 years...

fryalot · 24/04/2009 23:06

It was banned from the pubs I worked in around Manchester in the eighties, BBBB

Thunderduck · 24/04/2009 23:06

LOL. I don't want a hangover. I hate the taste of alcohol. I've yet to find a drink in which I'm unable to taste the alcohol, not that I'm particuarly keen to find one.

geraldinetheluckygoat · 24/04/2009 23:08

lager and lime? YUM!! On a hot summer day sitting outside a pub! I craved this for whole pregnancy with ds2.....

fryalot · 24/04/2009 23:08

thunderduck - if you're happy being a non-drinker, then don't worry about it!

My problem is that I don't particularly like soft drinks, and I do like the taste of beer.

Don't particularly like hangovers or getting drunk, but I do like the taste of beer which is why I drink it. If you like the taste of coke (or whatever soft drink you like) then stick to it, there's no point in acquiring a taste that you have no interest in acquiring

BigBellasBeerBelly · 24/04/2009 23:09

squonk!

This was the nineties, I'll have you know .

Well and maybe the late eighties...

Thunderduck · 24/04/2009 23:10

There are some cocktails I'd like to be able to drink occasionally. They sound so good but as soon as I can taste the alcohol it puts me off.

wheresclaire · 24/04/2009 23:10

Lots of alcho pops dont taste of alcohol. Try a nice archers and orange juice. Lovely in summer. Add some vodka too.
