We live in a maisonette which shares a communal garden with about 5 other households, mainly elderly folks. We are an "Ecover" household, we don't use "mainstream" cleaning products or air-fresheners.

I am sitting in the garden whilst the DD's play on thier bikes etc, and two of my neighbours have hung washing out, and the stench of Lenor/Comfort/whatever is all but making me gag, I am seriously thinking of going inside the smell is so strong. Bleurgh!!!!!

Go inside then.

You can't dictate what other people wash their clothes in.

I find it hard to believe the smell is that strong.

TrinityIsGettingABabyRhino · 18/04/2009 13:40

go inside then

aGalChangedHerName · 18/04/2009 13:40

Can't believe you posted that lol. Thought you were going to say it was a horrible stinky smell.

I love the smell of washing drying whatever the cleaning agent involved.

So i reckon YABU

Sassybeast · 18/04/2009 13:41

Shocking. How dare anyone hang clean washing on a line. I'd get one of your kids to poo on the lawn to mask it.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 18/04/2009 13:41

Go inside to be smug about your 'Ecover' saintliness.

Thunderduck · 18/04/2009 13:41

YABU and smug.

Bucharest · 18/04/2009 13:42

I am addicted to Blue Lenor...It's one of my favourite smells in the world...so your neighbours can't have been using that or you'd be dangling over the fence sniffing it all in.
So, YABabitU.

WittyKitty · 18/04/2009 13:42

You're lucky you have the bloody weather to sit out in the garden!

Go inside away from the -lovely-- nasty smells.

TrinityIsGettingABabyRhino · 18/04/2009 13:42

"ecover"...... "mainstream"

roffle
so smug

WittyKitty · 18/04/2009 13:43

Oh you should try the white Comfort, it's heavenly.

I also quite like blue Lenor.

I am often found in the isles of Tesco sniffing softeners.

Actually have you tried the pink Comfort. Very nice.

Lavender for bedding though!!!

MuffinBaker · 18/04/2009 13:44

If you don't use them, how do you know the brand names?...

"We are an 'Ecover' household".

Hmmm.

Think you need to get over yourself.

EasyEggs · 18/04/2009 13:46

My dd has just done a poo in her nappy, feel free to come sniff that if it would make you feel any better.

YABU

SerendipitousHarlot · 18/04/2009 13:46

How ridiculous

Mind yer beeswax and go indoors and polish with your....erm...beeswax

WittyKitty · 18/04/2009 13:46

Oh No! Ironing water.

sitsonhandsforawhile

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 18/04/2009 13:46

Those poor old people, having you sneering and smugging at them. I hope you're saying 'Oh poo children, hurry back in away from the smell of the nasty mainstream cleaning products - quickly now, before you lose your ethical morals'.

FFS.

GreenMonkies · 18/04/2009 13:47

I know I can probably smell it more than most people would because we don't use stuff with really strong artificial perfume in them, so I know my nose is more sensitive, but yes the smell is that strong. It seems unfair that my DD's and I should have to go in and miss this lovely weather, after all, it is my garden too. I know it's not a "poo" smell, but to my nose it really honks!!!!

i kinda know what she means though, i bought regular softner recently as the shop was out of ecover and the smell almost made me puke.

when you're not used to the chemically smell anymore it does seem really strong and tbh, quite horrid.

WittyKitty · 18/04/2009 13:48

Gosh greenmonkies you would detest me for a neighbour. Although I do have quite a lot of cat poo which I feel goes to waste.

Would you like to send it to you and you can re-cycle it and use as manure?

Tinker · 18/04/2009 13:48

I find ironing bizarre and unnecessary
