Ok ds1 is due to start secondary in September, for his entire schooling (so far) he has been the minority...being the only white child in his class and 1 of 4 in the entire school.

Most of the schools where I live are like this. BUT if i were to move 25 minutes away the schools are more of an even mix would this be wrong to do?

I am not racist at all, i have no room to be BUT i do want him to not only mix with black children.

It would mean either moving now and getting him to school every day or waiting until the schools break up and then moving ready for september.

Spokette yes I would move him if he was bullied again.

The whole point is I do not want him to be the minority as he is now. I want him to go to a school where there is more of an ethnic mix.

Hoochie, I know parents whose children attend the same school who have moved their child out of london so they are not in a predominantly black school. And for the record these children were black/mixed race. So are they racist too?
Another mum i know at the school who i get on very well with has looked for a school where her daughter will not be in the majority but in an even mixed school. ANd she is black as well. So is she racist? or is it because I am white and of the same opinion that I am racist apparently?

And I have answered the questions

Hoochie, i do have children to take care of and therefore am not on here 24/7.

MMH, You are trying to pick an argument well i am not biting. at the end of the day i do not want ds1 going to a predominantly black or white school i have said that many times.

TLE, you are absolutely right. By making comments about 'black kids' being bullies, I am trying to pick an argument.

Noonki · 22/04/2009 21:24

hoochie - i don't think it is that racist. I would prefer my child to be in a mixed school. Not 99.9% black, white, Asian or whatever.

If I were white I would not want my child to the only child in his class that was 'different'. Also i would not want him to be a in school where everyone else was white.

If I were black I would feel the same.

A mix is good.

sorry should have read it better

My problem is with all 3 of the things i have already mentioned. The ratio of 99% black children, the bullying and the fact it is not a very good school. Plus the fact that the bullies have been offered a place there.
