Come play with the big girls? ScottishMummy, are you talking about yourself?

This place is getting more like a school playground everyday.

Dittany, a lot of people might agree with you, but I'd imagine a lot don't either. I don't. So please don't think you speak for feminism when you are actually only speaking for yourself.

TheFallenMadonna · 25/03/2009 21:15

When you say it is "allied to Science" do you mean evolutionary psychology, as was certainly the case with the female orgasm paper you accuse dittany of not having read further down the thread. I did read that paper...

I think perhaps Ballina has a point. We, even under the common banner of being female, all live our own individual versions of feminism. We might agree on many points, we obviously don't on many others. I wonder if feminism is a state of mind rather than a political rallying cry?

Personally I was given to understand that rape is a crime of violence, not lust.

TheFallenMadonna · 25/03/2009 21:22

x-post with dittany!

skelping your arse red raw

Evocative turn of phrase you've got there, SM. I like it.

NotanOtter · 25/03/2009 21:28

agree tattifer

i find arguments to the contrary abhorrent

the antithesis of a feminist viewpoint but admit not reading whole thread

Grendle · 25/03/2009 21:28

Intellectual discussions about the female orgasm? Sheesh. This thread really is confirming most of my stereotypes about feminism now...

TheFallenMadonna · 25/03/2009 21:29

They didn't draw any real conclusions IIRC. Quite rightly, they pointed out that their favoured theory was once of a number of possible explanations of their data. And yes, there were methodology issues - there always are in psychology I reckon. It's the nature of the beast.

Ye Gods - what did I start?

Am I going to have to change my name.

I do think there has been a lot of interesting points made within the thread but far too much sniping

OP posts:
Grendle · 25/03/2009 23:03

Hahahahaha Bigmouth . You might have started the thread, but I'm not sure you were the cause of controversy .

I'm seriously considering a namechange now, especially as I'm concerned as to who these esteeemed academic posters actually are and whether I'll now be reading my unpopular opinions in soneone's column .

NotanOtter · 25/03/2009 23:09

according to half the posters on her sahm cannot possibly be feminist

I am a raging feminist but love doing laundry - having babies and baking

I adore talking about cleaning - no seriously!

I have borne many bairns and am delighted that one ( with an appendage) recently led the debating society meeting in favour of feminism!

success!

Now where is my vinegar spray - those windows look streaky!

twinsetandpearls · 25/03/2009 23:50

NAO I was a SAHM for five years but am still a feminist. But at no point did I think that I chose (although it was not a free choice) to be a SAHM because I was a woman, my gender was irrelevant. For those years I felt the best thing I could do for dd was to be at home. Just as my dp's decision to be at home is nothing to do with his gender.

I am also a feminist who collects cake stands.

Thankyou dittany,

ABetaDad · 26/03/2009 07:22

NotanOtter - you rock. See you soon on the cleaning threads.

I got the beds stripped and a washer load on already myself.

Your DS (the one with an appendage?) rocks as well. Bet he talked about his Mum.

tattifer · 26/03/2009 07:22

Cat herding sounds fun

slug · 26/03/2009 09:17

"rape as a biologically driven reproductive strategy theory." AKA the Jozef Fritzel defence.

NotanOtter · 26/03/2009 21:03

let them eat cake!

Oh and guess what Delia - men are great I love em!

(does not burn bra because that would lead to baaad tits!!)
