So who is going to try Adios and report back to me?!

Monkeygi · 18/02/2009 21:07

My sister is taking it at the moment. She says it's working. BUT she also says that she's going to the loo a lot. When I did some Highly Scientific Research on the web (read 2 reviews) they said that it was actually a kind of laxative.

Which would explain both reactions.

debzmb62 · 18/02/2009 21:17

nice to see your all perfect adults op is actually correct !

CoteDAzur · 18/02/2009 21:30

Not necessarily a laxative.

Stimulants make you go to the loo a lot, too.

My experience is with the chemical variety but I would expect herbal stimulants to work the same way.

Ever had a coffee with a cigarette? Neither are laxatives.

expatinscotland · 18/02/2009 21:34

'Ever had a coffee with a cigarette? '

Why torture me with reminders of one of life's greatest pleasures when I'm already 13 kilos over where I probably should be, eh?

CoteDAzur · 18/02/2009 21:38

You must have led a sheltered life if you think coffee & cigarette is the height of earthly pleasure

I do remember the combination fondly, though. I quit smoking over a year ago and didn't drink coffee for at least the first six months. There was no point (it seemed).

expatinscotland · 18/02/2009 21:41

I do partake of the occassional fag, but find intense pleasure is considered by most the very banal.

MiTochondrialEve · 18/02/2009 21:44

OMG, its getting all Wildean over here.

expatinscotland · 18/02/2009 21:46

Mmm, here's one:

A glass or two of champers or sparkling wine before dinner, with olives and nuts and then a fag.

Or a table surrounded by good company, outside on an early summer evening (NOT in the UK, obviously, the weather is shit here, let's say, erm, Alsace). A table loaded with excellent food and wine and packs of fags appearing after the meal and the lovely chatter going on, nibbling every now and again on a bit of the meal leftover . . .

expatinscotland · 18/02/2009 21:47

sorry, but in what is considered the banal.

i'm trying to watch 'ghosthunters' as well and if i see this advert for Confessions of a Shopaholic one more time i'm going to throw the TV into the loch.

MiTochondrialEve · 18/02/2009 21:48

More food as a substitute for sex. More and more Wildean!

Expat - you minx!

MiTochondrialEve · 18/02/2009 21:49
expatinscotland · 18/02/2009 21:49

Food's not a substitute for sex! No way. It's perhaps a precursor, or an accompaniment or a successor, but not a substitute.

Uggggh, what a British idea!

Longtalljosie · 18/02/2009 21:59

Well - is this off topic or on? I had a quick look at their website for you, and wasn't impressed. Mostly general healthy living stuff, no clinical trials proving people lose more weight with it than not taking it... Not even any testimonials. Which is quite surprising really.

Frankly, if it really worked wonders, you'd know about it. What can happen with all sorts of slimming remedies (as with other remedies) is that there is a kind of "halo" effect, where people taking a treatment are also more prone to leave off the cake because their dieting behaviour is reinforced (I say this as someone who just ate a big slab of cake but hell, I'm pregnant, the baby made me do it)

Monkeygi · 18/02/2009 22:26

I find that food is sometimes accidentally a substitute for sex. Like when you go out for a romantic meal and eat the equivalent of a small car and end up looking like a pair of Weebles.

Somehow don't fancy the idea of rolling around after that......Not on purpose anyway.

Coffee and a fag now- there's no substitute for that.

ICallHerPeachy · 19/02/2009 00:11

I love expat!
(In a hetero way!)

ICallHerPeachy · 19/02/2009 00:14

I am actually chipmonkey, not Peachy, in case I get charged with attempting to impersonate a celebrity!

onlywantsone · 19/02/2009 09:11

.... well if any one is interested I am taking the Adios - going to the loo more, but now real laxative side effects -

Oblomov · 19/02/2009 10:32

Waves at Expatinscotland. How you doing. Long time no see - not your fault, mine, just haven't seen you in ages. How are you ?

expatinscotland · 19/02/2009 11:36

Thanks for the update, only. For now, I don't even need Adios, because I've got a painful as hell infection in both ears and tonsilitis.

So I can't drink on this antibiotic and it hurts to swallow so I'm not doing much eating.

Wahey!

Hiya, Ob! How are you and your wee man?

Had to take wee man DS for his jabs today. Can you believe he is 15 weeks?!

He's a massive baby, too. 1st., 6lbs. and 26 inches long.

He's napping now, so I'd better lie down because I'm on codeine.

CoteDAzur · 19/02/2009 15:35

onlywantsone - Are you losing weight?

Helen31 · 19/02/2009 16:16

onlywantsone did you get anywhere with finding help in RL about your worry you had body dysmorphic disorder? mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=style_and_beauty&threadid=694871-Body-dysmorphic-disorder#14151769.

onlywantsone · 19/02/2009 19:45

I am incredible stupid, just read back last message -

was meant to say that I have taken them, at meal times as directed have noticed no real difference in my hunger.

And the toilet thing was supposed to say I'm weeing lots, (prob as Im drinking loads of water though) and have had NO real laxative effect that I thought they might...

I feel like a tester guineapig

Marthasmama · 19/02/2009 19:52

Adios don't work. Well, they didn't work for me anyway. They had absolutely no effect on me at all. Other natural slimming tablets have given me a terrrible head rush but not even that with Adios! The only thing I have ever taken that supressed my appetite was Nicotine chewing gum and that's because it made me feel sick.

expatinscotland · 19/02/2009 20:11

Damn, I'm actually going to have to put down the evening snacks and have to exercise.

The new me has been kick-started with a double ear infection and tonsilitis.

So of course, no wine for me.

And it is painful to swallow, so not much going on there.

BUT, I'm on codeine, and it's making me quite, erm, munchy.

I just made myself a chalupa. Okay, two chalupas.
