To think some usernames on here are overly crude?

I've seen some really crude names on here lately.
"AnyFucker" "BodybagMaggots" "sweatyarsecrack" etc

I can't believe that these are women that have chosen these names.

Am I the only one that thinks there is really no need to be so crude?

@SnackJack - yes, you are being very unreasonable - though kudos for posting an AIBU thread where the answers are almost unanimous.

On a more serious point - some people choose sweary nicknames in the hopes that this will stop the Daily Mail from printing their comments, when one of their lazy journalists mines MN for yet another article.

Finally - if you want a gentler, less sweary site, can I suggest Netmums. Not only do you have to use your name as your username (so no crude nicknames), but they also have a swear filter, so you can't use any bad language.

Personally, the crude usernames don't bother me - I look at what people say - the support, care, information, advice, intelligent debate and humour that makes up so much of MN. And I rejoice in the fact that my 23-year-old petrol head son can't use sweary words on his favourite petrol head website whilst I can, on a forum full of mums!

PoorYorick FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse came from a thread where the OP had bought a house with a field, but the field had a horsey tenant (or maybe more than one, I can't remember) and the horse's owner was, I think, using OP's outbuildings to store stuff without asking. OP had an almightly fight to get them to fuck off once and for all. Think it was a two-threader in the end. It's hilarious, it's in Classics and definitely worth a read if you've got a spare hour.

Highly tickled that someone (or more, it's hard to tell) who hasn't the wit to think of a new username instead of continuing with the generic numbered version they were supplied with sees fit to take issue with other posters' names!!
