To find it nearly impossible not to kiss my children all the time?

Not going to post a horrid slushy 'my children are totally gorgeous' thread, but just wondering...I don't ever notice other parents kissing their children much, but I can't stop kissing mine if they're on my knee and their faces are close to mine. So AIBU? Should I leave them alone? And if so, how?????

I kiss mine a lot too. It's lovely when they're a little bit bigger and start kissing back isn't it? Especially now that DD1 has learned to close her mouth now.
I don't see much of a problem with it, as long as it doesn't interfer with what they're/you're doing.

I feel exactly the same way, my DS is nearly 9 yo but doesn't appreciate it quite as much as he used to . He was explaining to me yesterday about something on the Wii and I was listening to him and looking at him and just had to kiss him cause he is so damm cute! Mind you I feel the same way about the hamster too, he is adorable!! I Kiss my DS constantly but he now wipes it off .

Jaamy · 04/02/2009 16:44

YANBU! I could seriously kiss my DDs all day. Their little cheeks and tummies, and feet and squidgey bums...and they are 13 and 15!!! No, only jesting. They are 3 and 5. Might need to stop this before they are 13 and 15, though.

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 04/02/2009 16:49

I can't leave my children alone either, when dd1 gets out of school (she's in reception) we always stop and have massive kisses and cuddles before going anywhere, the teacher thought she must be upset one day and I had to tell her we were just catching up on kisses . It only becomes a problem when you start kissing children of other people! I can't hold a baby without feeling the urge to snuffle in and kiss them on the forehead! my friends have looked a bit at times but I think they know I mean well..

gladders · 04/02/2009 16:49

could kiss dd (2) all day long - every part of her is so squeezable! ds (4 going on 13) - only kissable on his good days atm!

PinkTulips · 04/02/2009 16:50

i do this too.... the poor urchins can't come within a foot of me without getting kissed and stroked and cuddled.

they're incredibly cuddly kids though so tolerate it very well.... now that you mention it tough i never see other mothers doing it

dp and i both do it and we were both raised with buckets of physical affection too so it's just second nature to us. so it wouldn't even be possible for me to stop even if i wanted to.... but why would you want to stop kissing those sticky little faces

Lizzylou · 04/02/2009 16:51

I am the same, always kissing and cuddling my boys.
I remember being at a music group thing with DS1 when he was about 1yrs old and suddenly realising that not every mother was constantly kissing and stroking their DC, hasn't stopped me though!

I have asked DH at what age is it going to be inappropriate to kiss their bums, I think perhaps 18

theLoneFeeder · 04/02/2009 16:53

oooooohhh yes! I can't stop kissing both DS's (1 and 4). Mostly DS2 because he's more open to it!!! . When they're little they've just got such beautiful little pudgy cheeks!!!

PoloPlayingMummy · 04/02/2009 16:53

i do this too..just can't resist those squishy cheeks!

ruty · 04/02/2009 16:57

yes both sets of cheeks [4 and 9 months] get kissed constantly along with whispers of 'i love you i love you i love you' i know I'm going to have to restrain myself fairly soon...

ruty · 04/02/2009 16:58

i mean both sets of cheeks as in both children, not as in face and bum!

Nothing better than a cuddle and loads of kisses. DD7 is still very kissy and cuddly ds 3 just wants cuddles kisses are yuky hope he grows ou of it cause he is really kissable!

Dropdeadfred · 04/02/2009 17:00

I tell my dd3 that i love her all the time...probably 30-40 times a day...she instigates it by saying 'mummy I really love you...' and asking for a huggle

Wizzska · 04/02/2009 17:05

Sorry, can't not kiss DS. Am making the most of it now he's tiny (14months), one day he won't let me anymore .

becstarlitsea · 04/02/2009 17:07

DS now is old enough to say 'Gerrorrfme Mummy! Leave me lone, I playing!'

Dammit. Still keep trying to kiss him though.

Winehouse · 04/02/2009 17:08

I have one dd who will let me kiss her on the head but only really does kisses at bedtime, and another dd who does slobbery kisses at the drop of a hat.

I love kissing them and I can't resist stroking their tummies whenever I can.

DaphneMoon · 04/02/2009 17:10

Mummy - "Love you"
DS "Love you too mummy"
Mummy - "Love you more"
DS "No I Love you more"
Mummy - "No I love you more"
DS "No I love you more"

and it goes on...................

lindenlass · 04/02/2009 17:10

kerrymumbles I'm afraid I also spend a lot of time wanting to throttle them but don't ever actually do it! unlike the kissing!

poloplayingmummy their cheeks are so sift too! feel so lush to kiss!

lindenlass · 04/02/2009 17:12

winehouse I love my children's tummies too. And their lovely warm backs.

And their armpits too! So soft and not-yet-smelly

ruty · 04/02/2009 17:13

i get an [involuntary] kick in the face if i try to kiss their tummy.

Kbear · 04/02/2009 17:22

DS (7): "Mum can I have a drink please?"

Me: "Yes, for three kisses and a hug".
