To find it nearly impossible not to kiss my children all the time?

Not going to post a horrid slushy 'my children are totally gorgeous' thread, but just wondering...I don't ever notice other parents kissing their children much, but I can't stop kissing mine if they're on my knee and their faces are close to mine. So AIBU? Should I leave them alone? And if so, how?????

I can't help kissing mine too (2 and 3 yo). I also want to punch them frequently for being so god damn cute!!!! (in a nice way of course

thequietone · 04/02/2009 17:48

oh I can't stop kissing ds1. I want him to stop growing now and stay the way he is right now for ever!

I remember feeling SO sad when DH expressed concern that he was kissing ds1 too much. He and I didn't have affectionate contact from our dads. I told him that our son can never be loved too much and to just kiss away. I know he won't like it for ever...sniffle... and that's why we've a ds2 now!!!

oldraver · 04/02/2009 18:19

I think you have to make the most of it while you can coz there does come a day when they dont want it. My 3 year old is always coming up and saying I want a cuddle/kiss. I got quite chocked up when I dropped DS1 (22) off at the station to go back to Uni. He turned and kissed me before he went through the barrier, was quite a surprise

I have NO feelings of wanting to kiss other children though

Katiestar · 04/02/2009 18:34

Still want to kiss and cuddle my eldest DS who is 14 now.Obviously I try and restrain myself in front of his friends

AnnVan · 04/02/2009 18:35

I kiss my little man (nearly 5 months) all the time. He loves it and giggles whenever I do it (although sometimes he tries to suck my mouth) I'm making the most of it though. One day he'll just go 'Eeeeurgh Muuuuum get off!'

francagoestohollywood · 04/02/2009 18:37

YANBU, I'm very good at kissing mine too

Lizzylou · 04/02/2009 19:00

I have to watch kissing DS2 too much tho, he has a tendency to try and slip his tongue in my mouth!
He is only almost 3

Haribolicious · 04/02/2009 19:25

YANBU - I love kissing my DS (he's 2 1/2) and lushious so gets a smacker planted on him at every opportunity!!

bangandthedirtisgone · 04/02/2009 19:27

The cranial osteopath always kisses my DD when he is treating her!

Kbear · 04/02/2009 20:34

I always say to my DS that I have to kiss him double because when he is older he won't let me kiss him!

thefunkypea · 04/02/2009 20:43

I'm always kissing my dd, so much so that she now says no kissing mummy . In my defence, I work full time, so I've got to get the kisses in when I can

GColdtimer · 04/02/2009 20:48

me too. and DD (2.9) now puts her arms right around my neck and gives me a big kiss before bed along with a "I love you mummy, verrrry much". How can you not love kissing them??

mommycat · 04/02/2009 20:49

I can't stop kissing my 4 year old DD either! love it! I can't imagine a day when she won't be so little and cute.

LadyArden · 04/02/2009 20:51

YANBU. Can't stop kissing mine either or telling them I love them. It's nice for everyone so why not?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 04/02/2009 21:24

Kisses are lovely - I'm always kissing DS 6 months. He does kisses back with his mouth wide open onto my cheek [melt]

I also sing lots of stupid songs to him about how much I love him, which I suppose will have to come to a stop one day!

newlysinglemummy · 04/02/2009 21:33

YANBU - I kiss dd all the time, she is 18months old and hardly kisses anyone but has recently started to give a few away. But she has always given me lots of kisses.

Sometimes she sees people smooching on tv then comes over to me and gives me about 20 kisses at once (her way of snogging). Now she kisses me so much I sometimes lauagh as she heavy breaths on me and say get off. She climbs all over me kissing me on the face in a sloppy way saying ge off (get off).

She also kisses me on my leggs back anywhere she can reach. But she only does this with me no one else so she knows it is not sometime you just do.

Also I say I love you and she says it back but sounds like 'I do' lol

And she follows me around saying cuddles...

meep · 05/02/2009 07:37

being pregnant and hormonal I even had to pick my 18mo dd out of her cot and sit snuggling the top of her head before I could go to sleep last night

we do kisses through the cot bars before she lies down to sleep every bedtime and have cud cugs - I think I just kiss her every opportunity I can.

Glad I'm not alone!

Bettymum · 05/02/2009 17:21

Had to work from home today as nursery was shut because of the snow, have spent half the day with DD on my lap, her trying to type on my laptop and me kissing her head every two minutes

vezzie · 05/02/2009 18:23

This is a lovely thread, my first baby is due in April and I was thinking I would have to stop reading MN because there are so many mothers who seem to hate their babies I don't need to know. Now the whole thing is starting to seem a lot nicer. I can't wait for a silky little head to kiss.

silentlywondering · 05/02/2009 19:32

vezzie it's not that they hate their little ones it is usually that they are having trouble bonding or with older kids they need somewhere to vent and get it all off their chest. I have days when my posts could be misconstrued if I need to let off a bit of steam especially if I have had them both home all day winding each other up when ill or snowed in. But I am one of the first to say that there is nothing better than a cuddle and a kiss with them at the end of the day. My two are trying their best to destroy my house atm and I could vent about it but am looking forward to bath and cuddles in a min!

I can't kiss my LO right now as i have a cold sore and am so scared of passing it onto to her

MrsMattie · 05/02/2009 21:33

I kiss mine loads. DS (4) hates it and is forever saying with great impatience 'Mummy, you can cuddle me, but not kiss me, I said!'. I smother my baby DD in kisses, too. How can you not want to cuddle and kiss your babies all the time?

Christ. Listen to me

ssd · 05/02/2009 21:34

I try to kiss 10 yr old, he avoids me, but the 7 yr old can't!

warthog · 05/02/2009 21:47
