To find it nearly impossible not to kiss my children all the time?

Not going to post a horrid slushy 'my children are totally gorgeous' thread, but just wondering...I don't ever notice other parents kissing their children much, but I can't stop kissing mine if they're on my knee and their faces are close to mine. So AIBU? Should I leave them alone? And if so, how?????

I love it too and have a very huggy and kissy 3yo DS who loves to snuggle up, and even sits and pats our heads if we're feeling tired or having a moan However if he's busy he says "ONE hug and kiss mummy, you remember, then I have to play with my train, I am busy now."

Lizzylou · 10/02/2009 12:58

Anniemac, the whispering in their ear when they're asleep, I do that to the DS's too!

Bicnod, won't be long before you will be kissing your newborn constantly

DS1 comes into our bed in the morning for a cuddle and I just can't let him go, he is almost 5 so am hoping for at least a few mor years of this. He knows how much I love him doing this, so much so that if I tell him off he says "I am not coming into your bed tomorrow for a cuddle Mommy" Emotional blackmail in one so young, he always forgets though

TrinityRhino · 10/02/2009 13:03

pmsl @ ruty 'both sets of cheeks'

actually I do kiss geckos bum cheeks.....straight out of the bath mind...lol

anniemac - I do that too and have the same idea about the subconcious thing too
also not remotely embarrased about it

madhairday · 10/02/2009 13:04

awwww a gorgeous thread

I do it too, all the time. My 5yo ds is now starting to pull away But I can't resist his squishy little cheeks. I have to catch him now and hold him down for kisses, lol. My dd still loves it all and is v affectionate. I'm glad I'm not the only one

Merrylegs · 10/02/2009 13:06

I kiss 13 year old Ds goodnight every night. He is lovely and gives me nice bear hugs too. He is very tolerant of his old mum...

Lotster · 10/02/2009 13:06

a big drawback of being 8 months preg., I haven't been able to kiss my son when I tuck him in before I go to bed for aaaages! Big tummy stops me getting over the cot side!!

I kiss my little DD ALL the time. In between telling her she is beautiful/clever/fantastic etc etc. I love stroking the top of her back, just below her neck. Furthermore the mother of the two sweetest kids I have ever met (now 12 and 15) kissed and cuddled them constantly and I'm sure that's why the kids are so secure, happy and loving

southeastastra · 10/02/2009 13:21

argh my ds(7) keeps kissing me on the ear it deafens me

LittleOneMum · 10/02/2009 15:01

I think this is definitely the most YANBU thread ever!!! I kiss my DS (16 months) all the time and it is just heaven. All too soon he'll grow up and not want to any more and I am definitely going to keep doing it. xx

muffinmum · 10/02/2009 16:06

so pleased read this thread as thought it was only me,at swimming class and music esp, prob cos dd (almost 3) never usually still enough for me to do it otherwise.loads of kissing here!

longhardlookinthemirror · 10/02/2009 16:43

Can't give mine enough kisses either....I feel overwhelmed by the need to cuddle and kiss them sometimes.

Kisses and cuddles are a physical need for humans, children especially feel affection and care through direct contact.
It's great...keep up the kisses and cuddles with your lo's.

BouncingTurtle · 10/02/2009 17:10

I adore kissing ds(13.5mo) he has the loveliest pudgy cheeks, and I love to kiss that silky spot on the back of his neck. He is soooo huggable! He is still feeding through the night, which although is tiring, it gives me the chance for more hugs and kisses!
He doesn't kiss me back, though, but he gives me hugs
Keep saying I want to get all the kisses now because when he gets a bit older kisses from mummy will be icky

MrsMerryHenry · 10/02/2009 17:12

I kiss my DS ALL THE TIME. Mainly because his cheeks are as soft as air. But also because I know that my time is short. By the time he reaches 5 I'll be "at arms length, only, ta, mum." And then I will begin Phase 2: kissing him at night when he's fast asleep. Swiftly followed by Phase 3: Telling him the following day - in front of his friends.

Absolutely not. Ff gets about 200 kisses a day from me and from Bloke. We have started telling ourselves that she needs that many 'to grow', and will repeat it like a mantra when she is old enough to start resisting them.

For now though, she loves it, and has just started to blow kisses back at us, which is adorable. (I also kiss the dogs a lot, but don't expect people to share that too!)

lovebooboo · 10/02/2009 21:23

BonsoirAnna....

seems to make sense

Caz10 · 10/02/2009 21:49

Aaaaw what a nice thread!

I kiss dd (14mths) constantly, she kisses back now and it's gorgeous, she also leans in for cuddles and pats me on the arm, melt!!

I tell her I love her all the time, but she obviously can't talk yet - when did your LOs 1st say they loved you?

mathsmummy27 · 10/02/2009 22:03

There is nothing quite so heavenly as little arms around your neck, little wet lips, a soft cheek against yours...

I am pg with number 2 and cried all the way home today because I got stuck in a traffic jam (ha! the joy of hormones). The second I got in a little voice piped up: 'Mummy, I have missed you so much today..cuggle me' and a squishy little one threw herself at me.

HOW can you stop kissing them?

MrsMerryHenry · 10/02/2009 23:17

Funny, isn't it, how your DCs can give you wet kisses and it's adorable, but from anyone else?

oldraver · 10/02/2009 23:33

I think my kissing has rubbed off as well.... DS1 is always kissing DS2. DS2 adores his older brother and will often sit on his knee reading , watching tv or very often squashed next to DS1'S laptop. Ds 1 will very often sit there just kissing ds2's head very nonchantly. I'm not sure he always realises he's doing it

delphinedownunder · 10/02/2009 23:48

i was NEVER kissed as a child and so I make an effort to kiss my twins all the time. And they are now kissing back, which is just heart breakingly gorgeous. My friend still cuddles her 14 year old and he cuddles back, as long as his friends and girlfriend(!) aren't looking. (he is a gorgeous kid by the way, who is growing into a gorgeous man)

MrsMerryHenry · 10/02/2009 23:51

Delphine, am for you for lacking kisses as a child. Though come to think of it, I don't remember many kisses as a child except very noisy ones from my dad (who I didn't like very much, sadly).

Like you I make up for it now (I also did this with my little bro, who's now 25 - clearly I've still not got it out of my system!)
