To find it nearly impossible not to kiss my children all the time?

Not going to post a horrid slushy 'my children are totally gorgeous' thread, but just wondering...I don't ever notice other parents kissing their children much, but I can't stop kissing mine if they're on my knee and their faces are close to mine. So AIBU? Should I leave them alone? And if so, how?????

I could kiss my two all day long. DS1 is very keen on kisses and cuddles but DS2 only likes cuddles. He doesn't like wet kisses (too much 'mummy dribble' ) or lipstick kisses (yucky) and once declared that I could only kiss him on Fridays
He does occasionally come along and plant a kiss on my lips if he's feeling particularly soppy.

I'm off to kiss my sleeping babes right now

Delphine.... I think thats why I can be OTT (is that possible?) with kissing. I cant ever remember my Mum kissing me and even now feel very uncomfortable on the odd occasion like when I/she is leaving, that she tries to kiss me

MrsMerryHenry · 11/02/2009 00:12

Ahh...my DS is also very kissy nowadays, though only with me - he often doesn't let DH kiss him, which I think demonstrates clearly which parent spends most of the time with her lips suckered to his poor little cheeks!

He does, however, ask almost exclusively "to see Daddy" every single day, but never asks for me. . Oh well, s'pose you can't have everything!

I love it when my DD (2.5ys) sits on my lap and puts her cheek against mine and winds her arm around my neck for kisses. Nothing beats that! Priceles!

twinmam · 11/02/2009 08:53

I can't kiss mine when they are asleep as they are too low down in their cots and I am v short - GRRRR - but I do kiss my fingers and put kisses on them or just put my hand on their backs. And I do the whispering thing - thought that was just me! Kissing IS addictive but it's not a habit I ever intend to break! I feel all loved up now. Think I will come back to this thread every day to feel all blissful A year ago today my DTs were born and I didn't get to kiss or hold them for 24 hours so have been making it up ever since especially today when they will be covered in kisses from head to foot

Me too, loads of kissing in our house. And always a cuddle and smooch in the school playground. I often call DS Smooch too!

jenkel · 11/02/2009 09:34

Oh what a lovely thread,

We are a very kissy cuddly house,

However dd 1 who is 6 is not quite so cuddly as her sister, but I'm always whispering in her ear that I love her and she has started doing that back.

And I love stroking their tummy, oh I just want to get them from school now and give them a big hug.

sfxmum · 11/02/2009 09:38

dd 3.8 rations her kisses and if we give more than the stated amount we made to take them back and eat them

bradsmissus · 11/02/2009 09:58

We too are kissy and cuddly! DD is 10 and she loves nothing more than a snuggle although she is now getting a bit at kisses in public!

DS who is nearly 4 has kissing moods. Sometimes he loves it and other times he says "Mummy, I am a boy, boys don't like kisses" !!!! He does love kissing the cat though!!!!
