I was paying for petrol on Sunday and two hooded chavs behind me saw the NOTW front page on the stand and were discussing the fact that one of them didn't know that Jade Goody has cancer.

I found that quite shocking. Wouldn't expect them to know who Obama is though.

I think, if this OP is for real the shock is someone who uses MN wouldn't know. I'm sure there are many many people in the UK who have no idea who he is, or who Gordon Brown is etc. But they are probably not contributing to chat forums on here either.

How topical - news is on and my w3 year old boy just said 'look mum there's Barack Obama again.' Iggle Piggle, Obama - it's all the same to him. Although he does think Barack Obama sounds like someone from Star Wars.

I am not a troll, I post on here a few times a week, and its not that I dont care, I dont think to myself, I am not watching the news because I dont want to know about it, its just something I dont do often, and politics is something I struggle understand so admitedly it does'nt tend to grab my attention.

My almost 2 year old was running around the living room yesterday shouting "Bama Bama" every time he appeared on the TV. So even she has some sense of the occasion!

With all due respect, you don't have to watch the news or read a newspaper to know who obama is. Surely you meet people? Talk to people when you're out and about? Spot headlines on newspapers? Do you stay at home all day every day with the tv, computer and radio turned off and not talk to anyone?

Are you imprisoned in a cave and trying to send messages in code?
