to hope that the people who tortured that baby to death will get a taste of their own medicine in prison?

I know that two wrongs don't make a right and all that...but I can't help it.

I really can't accept that they'll just get a few years in prison and be out to get on with their lives. I don't even agree with the death penalty, but this Baby P case just makes me (along with everyone else, I know) so so angry.

So AIBU to actually wish them harm?

nickytwotimes · 13/11/2008 20:40

oh ffs...
Not another one.
What does it have to do with you?
By all means talk about your sadness / anger about the case but not this crap.

jooseyfruit · 13/11/2008 20:41

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhh

nickytwotimes · 13/11/2008 20:41

and many people will be upset by your unsubtle title thread. We do not need it in our faces.

shitehawk · 13/11/2008 20:42

Do we really need another thread about this?

Please can we keep it to one thread?

daisy5678 · 13/11/2008 20:45

Didn't see another thread.

Didn't realise there was a list of forbidden topics either.

Feel free not to answer if you don't want to comment on. It's something I feel strongly about at the moment, and I think it has just as much validity as many of the other issues on here and it is a genuine question. I want to know if I'm the only one to feel this uncharacteristic (for me) venom towards total strangers.

daisy5678 · 13/11/2008 20:47

I really don't get the 'what does it have to do with you?' thing either. Surely most of what we talk about on MN is nothing to do with us.

I don't get over to AIBU very often, but it does seem to be a bizarre hobby to swoop on to someone's thread and take the time to write a comment just to point out the pointlessness of a thread. Surely you ignore it if you're not interested in the topic? Which was pretty clear from my title.

OP posts:
nickytwotimes · 13/11/2008 20:47

There are several other threads.
There are no forbidden topics, but there is such a thing as sensitivity.
Why start a thread like this on AIBU? What do you hope to gain from it?

lovleygirls · 13/11/2008 20:48

I think you are entitled to post this, after all MN is a place to vent.

We can not help thinking about this horific crime as it is all over the news.

Poor wee soul.

nickytwotimes · 13/11/2008 20:49

Yes, but your title comes up on the thread list. So people have to read it, even if only once before hiding it.

cali · 13/11/2008 20:50

watch out, the mumsnet police will arrest you for lack of sensitivity and repetition in your thread title!

nickytwotimes · 13/11/2008 20:51

I do no think your thread is merely pointless anyway - I think it is distasteful.

lovleygirls · 13/11/2008 20:51

It been all over the news. You can't avoid it.

nickytwotimes · 13/11/2008 20:52

Fuck this.
I am not hanging around, bumpng this Daily Mail-esque crap for you.

smeeinit · 13/11/2008 20:54

YANBU
and you to are NBU for posting whatever you wish to post on MN.

ffs to those who jumped on givemesleeporgivemechocolate whats the actual problem? its clear from the thread title whats this is about...you dont like it? dont open the feckin thread and certainly dont post on it?!...

daisy5678 · 13/11/2008 20:55

Thanks, lovleygirls. I really don't get how people reading my thread title is any worse than turning on the news or seeing the headlines in a newsagents.

Nicky, I started the thread for people's opinions. I really do want to know. I still feel that you don't need to post on something you're not interested in. Why up your RSI risk? Save it for something you DO want to comment on.

daisy5678 · 13/11/2008 20:56

X -posted, Nicky. Thanks. I didn't come here to start a fight, so it would be best if you did.

lovleygirls · 13/11/2008 20:56

Infact it is a lot tamer than the graphic detailed displayed on the news.

kettlechip · 13/11/2008 20:57

I think your choice of title is very emotive and that could potentially offend or upset some. However, you're entitled to express your feelings and doubtless millions of people will agree with you.

Personally, I'm not sure how I feel about the idea of retribution in prison. I really can't think that anyone who could commit that kind of atrocity can be of sound mental health and exposing them to a lynch mob doesn't seem to me to be an appropriate way to address the problem. That's just my opinion though..

PeaMcLean · 13/11/2008 20:58

Wanting revenge is normal.

You can't really want those people to be tortured by inmates in prison though. That's vigilantism (sp) and surely not really to be encouraged in a civilised society. We have prisons to avoid cruel and unusual punishment and to make the punishment uniform.

LadyOfRObamaffle · 13/11/2008 21:00

My personal opinion is that possibly people can just be careful wtih words they choose in thread titles. As someone who suffers from PTSD certain words relating to certain things are real triggers for me, this is not an attack on the OP at all, just saying, in general, the actual titles should be more sensative, as we cannot chose to see them on active convos. I mean, we can hide them but then you have already seen them. Apart from that, you can chose to open a thread or not. There is much that doesn't intrest me /upsets me etc. on MN and I chose to not read it. This is a big story and threads will pop up everywhere with people venting/trying to make sense of this awful thing.

daisy5678 · 13/11/2008 21:10

That's why I'm kind of at myself. I think it's the first time I've felt like this about something in the news. I'm normally absolutely anti-vigilantism/ death penalty.

Ladyofrobamaffle, I'm sorry if the words did upset you. I will think before using emotive words in titles again.

I think this may well be my first ever MN non-SEN thread and am un-used to using words other than 'autism'/ 'bloody school'/ 'bloody autism/ DLA/ LEA' etc.!

Thanks for the opinions - I do genuinely want to know!

I'm against the death penalty and physical harm as a punishment, but I've read that they will only get a maximum of 14 years which just seems incredible. I would like to see them all serve a whole life sentence (preferably in a US type jail). But, you're a long time dead and I wouldn't like to be going where they are.

onthewarpath · 14/11/2008 10:36

Please stop. FULL STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
