To think my teen daughter shouldn't talk to my partner this way?

If my partner comes into the living room with a handful of biscuits my daughter will screech "how many???" and start kicking off about greedyness and that there's no wonder the biscuits never last and that he's selfish because nobody else ever gets any!

I told her off, she went crying to her dad and he said I'M out of order.

He sounds pretty greedy, poor child probably just wanted a biscuit.

TheSmallClanger · 03/11/2008 22:26

Does he hog the biscuits, though?

Is this the only problem between them? If it is, I'd be tempted to ignore the comments.

My brother and I always used to rib my dad for eating all the biscuits, because he did.

MrsStig · 03/11/2008 22:27

Did he leave her any biscuits..maybe they were her favourite!

2shoeshissbangwhoosh · 03/11/2008 22:27

could he not offer her some

halfaquark · 03/11/2008 22:27

Is your daughter right about your partner taking more than his fair share?

Not sure if she's out of order or not- suppose it depends on her tone of voice really.

deanychip · 03/11/2008 22:27

ah but, is her point that you took his side and not hers thereby abandoning her (teenage drama etc)???

LittleWhizzingBella · 03/11/2008 22:28

LOL at Biscuitgate

solidgoldbrass · 03/11/2008 22:29

Depends if you think it's about more than just biscuits. Do they argue over other things? Do you think she feels (rightly or wrongly) that you prioritise him over her?

Otherwise, maybe he is pigging all the biscuits, or maybe she's just being a stroppy teen (and would talk to her dad the same way).

louii · 03/11/2008 22:29

How many biscuits are a handful though, suppose it depends on how big his hands are. Y
ou know what they say about blokes with big hands!

(They can fit loads of biscuits in them)

LittleWhizzingBella · 03/11/2008 22:30

what is your dp's reaction ot this

tuesdayafternoon · 03/11/2008 22:30

Actually without knowing more about the personalities & relationships involved, & how fat your DP is, it's impossible to comment.

nametaken · 03/11/2008 22:32

don't buy any more biscuits

no biscuits, no arguments

twirlandpearl · 03/11/2008 22:34

They argue over EVERYTHING. It drives me mad.

He got around 8 biscuits but he's an adult, he shouldn't need to ask permision and there were still some left if she wanted some.

Her tone was very nasty. She wasn't playing.

OP posts:
louii · 03/11/2008 22:35

8 biscuits! What kind were they?

LittleWhizzingBella · 03/11/2008 22:35

so why is she nasty to him?

all the time, or just about biscuits?

what's he like to her?

2shoeshissbangwhoosh · 03/11/2008 22:36

a 15 year old thinks they are adults too.
why didn't he offer her some?

nametaken · 03/11/2008 22:36

I'm more shocked that he had them in his hand and didn't put them on a tea plate with a paper doily.

twirlandpearl · 03/11/2008 22:38

they were bourbons.

She just doesn't like him, I think she's jealous of him. He isn't great with her either.

I don't know why he didn't offer her some, I suppose because if she wanted some she could go and get some from the kitchen? she doesn't need permision either.

OP posts:
LittleWhizzingBella · 03/11/2008 22:40

so why is she jealous of him and why isn't he great with her. In what way isn't he great with her

sounds like it's about more than bourbons tbh

twirlandpearl · 03/11/2008 22:40

they just argue constantly, wind each other up, complain about each other all the time.

OP posts:
LittleWhizzingBella · 03/11/2008 22:41

how long have you been with him

twirlandpearl · 03/11/2008 22:42

about 3 years

OP posts:
LittleWhizzingBella · 03/11/2008 22:43

What does he see his role as with her? Why does she feel jealous of him?

LittleWhizzingBella · 03/11/2008 22:43

sorry am firing questions at you, trying to get a picture

twirlandpearl · 03/11/2008 22:45

I'm really not sure. He says he wants to get on with her but she's so difficult all the time like calling him daft names, taking the piss out of what he eats, pulling daft faces but he's just as bad in all honesty. I still think she shouldn't talk to him like that over some biscuits though.
