to think that Kerry Katona sounded either drunk/drugged or as though she'd had a stroke on tv this morning

........ was anyone else watching this?

I was amazed when Phillip Scofield asked her if there was somethng wrong with her as she was slurring her words. I was imagining what his producer was screeching down his ear piece and feeling sorry for him being put on the spot like that. And actually felt sorry for KK too - a bit.

It was riviting tv.....

My mother has had a stroke and KK sounded just like my mum this morning. I did ask myself whether I was witnessing someone having a stroke.

I should not judge as it is very unfair for me to do so, but KK does have a reputation for drink and drugs - that could be the alternative.

Whatever, I hope she goes to see a doctor ASAP.

kettlechip · 22/10/2008 20:40

She needs a trip back to the Priory asap. Whatever she was on today, drugs, alcohol, prescription stuff, whatever, it is obviously taking its toll.

Why the hell was she allowed to do the interview? She wasn't right from the start and it was painful to watch.

I just hope somebody is looking out for her children, she wasn't in any fit state to look after a couple of babies this morning, and that husband of hers is totally vile.

spicemonster · 22/10/2008 20:42

What I meant Janos is that presumably she has access to private health care so doesn't have the wait or the paucity of mental health resources most of us have. And despite that, she's still fucking up. She has children. She has responsibilities. She needs to grow up

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 22/10/2008 20:43

I really feel that when celebrities are in this state, there should be a responsiblity by the media to actively step back and allow people to work themselves through whatever is going on.
They should say "look, we're not going to interview you or promote you until you clean yourself up; and when you get out of rehab/find Jesus we'll be falling over our own two feet to interview you"
I know that the magazines and TV want the audience etc, but there should be a little responsiblity.

Twelvelegs · 22/10/2008 20:44

Kerry Katona on this morning OMG, just watched it.

kettlechip · 22/10/2008 20:45

Hmm, isn't KK supposed to have gone bankrupt? The Priory costs £600 per day, might be an issue for her now!!

twinsetandpearls · 22/10/2008 20:47

I suspect I am on a milder dose of medication than KK but I sometimes slur my words. Why would you want to mock someone who is so clearly troubled

zippitippitoes · 22/10/2008 20:47

yes im not sure you can afford private health care as a bankrupt

tiredemma · 22/10/2008 20:48

I think its very sad.
She clearly needs help.

bundle · 22/10/2008 20:49

priory does lots of work for the nhs, much more than private iirc

Twelvelegs · 22/10/2008 20:53

She is a walking car wreck and doesn't seem to have anyone looking after her, just sponging. If I were her EX I would swoop in and take my children.

zippitippitoes · 22/10/2008 20:54

a lot of people are keen to take her children away

kettlechip · 22/10/2008 20:54

Priory does do lots for the NHS, and there are surprisingly few "celebs" in there (lots of children of celebs though..) but it's not just a case of asking your GP for a referral there, it's a bit of a lengthy procedure unless you have private insurance, and even then it can be a fight.

compo · 22/10/2008 20:55

how can she be bankrupt when she has just spent £££s on cosmetic surgery? presumably she's gettign £££s from MTV so maybe they paid for the surgery

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 22/10/2008 20:56

I had an incident at Christmas when the docs thought I'd had a stroke (luckily I hadn't). It turned out to be a terrible type of migraine, but for a long while afterwards I slurred my words, babbled, lost my words, easily confused. It was a horrible time. Even after the words stopped slurring I was still confused and using the wrong words, mostly I didn't notice, but it really shocked and/or upset me when people pointed it out.

compo · 22/10/2008 20:57

at the guardian though 'The ones who weren't scrabbling for the record button and their mobile phones to tell their friends to switch to ITV1, that is.' wondr if they read our 10th thread on her before the interview had even finished

kettlechip · 22/10/2008 20:57

and I often wonder how much she gets paid for pretending to write that shite column in OK..

zippitippitoes · 22/10/2008 20:58

i havent bothered looking at the other threads

of course stress makes bipolar worse

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 22/10/2008 20:58

MTV paid for her new boobs iirc

matildax · 22/10/2008 20:58

tillyscoutsmum...... what you said is right. IF it was the medication that caused the slurring words, and all the rest, she would have been aware of it, and would have told the good morning producers beforehand. i tried to make the same point earlier on in this thread.

BUT she did not, and was genuinely shocked when they mentioned it. so i personally disagree with this argument.

she cannot hide behind the 'i take meds" thing. she was obviously under the influence of something more. and her incoherant (sp) ramblings just proved that.

Twelvelegs · 22/10/2008 20:59

Not just her children Zippi, his too.

Her slurring is not new, she was like that the last time I saw her on something...TV and otherwise.

compo · 22/10/2008 21:01

people seem genuinely surised she was let on TV in this state though
her people must have known it would make the news tomorrow
look at Tara PT on the Frank Skinner show, her subsequent turnaround after that made her from an It girl just being seen around town to a TV presenter

compo · 22/10/2008 21:02

'Speaking after her appearance on the show, Mark told MTV News that Kerry had taken her medication for bipolar disorder four hours late last night due to TV commitments.

He explained: ?One of the side effects of her drugs is slurred speech and as Kerry took the drugs late and was up early it was particularly bad today.

"Kerry would like to categorically state for the record that that the only thing she drank before the show was cups of tea.

?Having answered the questions to the best of her ability, Kerry was upset at the insinuation that she was on anything other than the prescription drugs which she has always been honest about taking.? '

So instead of going home to look after her he went on to a MTV interview

zippitippitoes · 22/10/2008 21:03

people are let on tv in this state because people love it

Janos · 22/10/2008 21:04

Urgh the husband is a feckin TOSSER!

And ugly.
