to think that Kerry Katona sounded either drunk/drugged or as though she'd had a stroke on tv this morning

........ was anyone else watching this?

I was amazed when Phillip Scofield asked her if there was somethng wrong with her as she was slurring her words. I was imagining what his producer was screeching down his ear piece and feeling sorry for him being put on the spot like that. And actually felt sorry for KK too - a bit.

It was riviting tv.....

Haven't read whole thread

But if her slurring and 'erratic' presentation is due to side-effects of medication, then she REALLY needs to go back to her psychiatrist for a medication review.

If she is "well" (as she claims she is) then her meds can probably be tweaked a bit, as she is over-sedated

Having said that, I personally think she was under the influence with probably a combination of things (possibly inc. her bi-polar meds)

Very sad

spicemonster · 22/10/2008 19:31

So if she is on anti-psychotic meds that make her speech slurred, why appear on telly? She may not be the brightest candle in the box but surely she's not that thick. She's made a career out of flogging her dirty laundry to the public. She'll get loads of meejah coverage for this to fund the lifestyle she can't afford.

nooOOOoonki · 22/10/2008 19:32

I too have been on anti-psychotics and I chewed constantly, slurred horrendously and looked a bit mad ... oh that's because I was.

I seriously question her publisist/manager/ who arranged for her to go on telly. I was lucky and had my family looking out for me, unfortunately her Mum sold her story to the press. Poor woman

cherrylips · 22/10/2008 19:34

procyclidine only helps with some of the side effects of chlorpromazine. chlorpromazine is v old fashioned. i wondered if she is addicted to very strong opiate based pain killers and/or hypnotic drugs, used to help with pain and insomnia.

Janos · 22/10/2008 19:37

"So if she is on anti-psychotic meds that make her speech slurred, why appear on telly? She may not be the brightest candle in the box"

I think that might be why spicemonster. Plus she is surrounded by people are keen to profit from the latest disaster in KK's car crash of a life.

What she really needs is nome decent support. She hasn't had that I don't think. Mum and friends selling stories about her left right and centre and that abusive twat of a husband. Oh, and an ex who pops up to criticise her parenting without taking any responsibility himself.

zippitippitoes · 22/10/2008 19:39

it isnt that simple to tweak meds

clearly she is one mixed up person

surrounded by mixed up people

nooOOOoonki · 22/10/2008 19:42

and procyclidine isnt 100 % effective and can be very addictive (not to good for someone with a drug history)

Tillyscoutsmum · 22/10/2008 19:42

If her speech was slurred because of her medication, then surely she would have been aware of it before and might have started the interview off with "sorry my speech is a bit slurred but my meds..... blah blah blah". Instead she looked shocked that her speech was slurred.

I would strongly suspect there were some non prescribed drugs in the mix somewhere.

I do feel sorry for her and can't help thinking that all the people around her aren't doing her any favours (her dh included). She's like a UK version of Britney

nooOOOoonki · 22/10/2008 19:43

and spicemonster - she is ill ... she has bipolar disease which by it's very nature means you can moments of severely bad judgement.

notnowbernard · 22/10/2008 19:43

A consultant should be able to change her medication regime in order for her to suffer less side-effects (if this is what she's suffering from)

No-one should be left with these side-effects (certainly not when they are leading 'normal'/functional lives at home)

Jazzicatz · 22/10/2008 19:45

You are all being too nice hoping that its the prescribed meds which are causing her erratic behaviour. SHE WAS OFF HER NUTS SIMPLE AS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

zippitippitoes · 22/10/2008 19:46

ive no doubt she is mixing her medication with alcohol and otc drugs and generally not managing herslef very well

but that is not hugely surprising as that is common place for people who suffer from heavy weight mental health problems

notnowbernard · 22/10/2008 19:49

Agree Zippi

She is chronicaly chaotic and unmanageable

And it's now difficult to determine what the presenting problem is, atm... her illness or her drinking/using/whatever else she's doing

zippitippitoes · 22/10/2008 19:52

lots of ordinary people end up bouncing around like this you just doint see them because their day job is not to be a z list celeb

zippitippitoes · 22/10/2008 19:53

colloquially known as not knowing which way is up

spicemonster · 22/10/2008 20:07

I do take the point that she had dreadful parenting. But at what point do we start taking responsibility? She is being paid to be a completely shit parent - she makes a career out of it. I know women with serious mental health problems and who have had massive addiction issues pull themselves out of the mire and get themselves together for the sake of their kids. They haven't had half the advantages she has had. She's pissed everything up the fucking wall.

I'm sorry, it makes me really cross. (ps and before anyone says I don't understand bipolar - I do. My family are blessed with it)

spicemonster · 22/10/2008 20:09

And in 20 years' time are we going to have loads of Katona offspring having a media career based largely on how abused and fucked up their mum was? Because that's how it's going.

spicemonster · 22/10/2008 20:09

abusive even

compo · 22/10/2008 20:12

she did seem genuinely shocked to think that Fern was suggesting that she was an alcoholic . It was definitely implied that she was. A few drinks on holiday doesn't amount to the quanties the magazine said she had at all. And as Fern said that is a magazine she writes for.

zippitippitoes · 22/10/2008 20:13

well fucked up z list celebs are media gifts

people love this stuff

cutekids · 22/10/2008 20:16

haven't read the full thread but did think this morning that she was ill.I think we should lay off her.

NoNickname · 22/10/2008 20:18

Interesting comment about her appearance here

Janos · 22/10/2008 20:24

I don't think her parenting is much affected by how much money she gets TBH! Not the saying she is a role model or owt but she'd be same if she was living ina council flat on benefits, I reckon.

I think she has really messed up her life and it's a shame. Being a celeb has prob made her problems worse.

She just veers from one disaster to another.

I suspect she is probably addicted to the attention, however negative, and feels validated by it.

CountTo10 · 22/10/2008 20:24

Just posted this on the other thread!!

Think the mtv crew that were with her must have been lapping the performance up.

I saw this and was really shocked. Evidently she turned up about 10mins before the interview so they had no idea she was like it and her publicist (think its max clifford, not sure if he still is) said he would never advise an interview that early because of the drugs she was on. As much as I can't stand the girl, I can't help feel a bit sorry for her cause she did look genuinely shocked at the accusation of being out of it as well as an alcoholic!

notnowbernard · 22/10/2008 20:27

Lol at being "shocked" at suggestion of addiction problems

It's called denial
