Or have I had a sense of humouyr bypass and I seriously need to rediscover it? I know that bf an older baby is unusual but he's not fed that often. He usually says it when I give him his morning feed but it can be at any time. I just don't find it funny at all and I'm getting more and more irritated grrr!!

on good dairy farms, cows are allowed to feed their calves.

One reason to buy organic m8ilk

pushchair · 22/10/2008 17:00

Sorry I just caught this last couple of comments on 'last 15 mins' I heard that most calves born to dairy cows are slaughtered and chucked so that the cows had milk for us, the farmer had no other mouths to feed and because there was no demand for veal in britain. heard a woman farmer talking about it on the radio. Tis a scandal. Sorry hijack!

pointygravedogger · 22/10/2008 17:06

buy organis milk

pushchair · 22/10/2008 17:17

What do organic farmers do with all the calves then?

ladytophamhatt · 22/10/2008 17:28

I can't even think of the words to describe how angry I'd be if Dh had said that to me!

Honestly I would have mad insane raging nutcase.

notsoseriousanymore · 22/10/2008 17:38

Rhubarb - You have a great sense of humour!!!

Ladytophamhatt - you... not so much..

I never realised one word could evoke such a strong and rather strange reaction.

"mad insane raging nutcase. " - because of one word...

I still don't get it, but never mind...

pushchair · 22/10/2008 17:40

Mooo!

WinkyWinkola · 22/10/2008 17:45

There's lots of words that can make me very angry actually.

The N word for one........

Words are very powerful.

pointygravedogger · 22/10/2008 17:45

I believe organic farmers leave calves with their mothers for a number of months, by which time they will be weaning.

It's just far less stressful for the cow and calf - obv - if they are not separated at birth.

WinkyWinkola · 22/10/2008 17:46

Yes, always buy organic milk.

Most cows have a shite life, being milked ALL the time. It's 'orrible.

pushchair · 22/10/2008 17:49

I do buy organic so thats allright then. And it causes less mucous forming or something so is better for those with colds.

Ripeberry · 22/10/2008 17:51

My daughter aged 3yrs keeps saying "picky, picky" when she wants to be picked up. So anyone listening might mistake it for Bitty, bitty.

notsoseriousanymore · 22/10/2008 18:08

But this isn't the N word, is it, Winkywinkola (though I do take your point... It's very valid)

ladytophamhatt · 22/10/2008 19:03

Notsoserious, Only in the circumstances the OP said. If I was feeding my baby and someone siad Bitty, I;d knock their head off their shoulders

Any other time its wouldn't phase me at all.

LB is amusing but not side splitting funny IMO.

notsoseriousanymore · 22/10/2008 20:12

You are right, Ladytophamhatt - I haven't really warmed to the US version... More of the same, with america accents!! Harry and Paul is funnier (IMHO)

Though I do rather like 'Mr Doggy'... 'if you want your clothes, possessions and body to smell of dog, then get a dog'

(I'm a dog owner!! )

tellyaddict · 22/10/2008 22:43

I did laugh at your post!

Told my dh and he suggests that you walk over to yours and wap it into his mouth (it's obviously what he's asking for ) and will shut him up into the bargain lol!!

Dottoressa · 23/10/2008 18:25

What on earth is this bitty bitty stuff about? [confused emoticon]

Lotster · 23/10/2008 18:47

Only read up to the lactivist shit-fight starting...

I must say I think it's just a joke, meant to be funny. Why not reply with "Am I bovvered?!"

Unless you know deep down he's really having a dig, if so ask him why he's so uncomfortable and not grateful you're still making the effort? Maybe he's jealous because they're "his" boobies.

Or maybe he would actually quite like so bitty?

Lotster · 23/10/2008 18:47

SOME bitty

notsoseriousanymore · 23/10/2008 18:53

Lotster - Excellent idea...

DO I look Bovvered... This face... Bovvered???

What an excellent reply!!!

LittleBellaLugosi · 23/10/2008 19:10

Where's the lactivist stuff? I read all the way through this thread for that and then couldn't find any

notsoseriousanymore · 23/10/2008 19:14

I dunno about lactivist stuff, but I've had a few fights on this thread - apparently for finding the word BITTY funny (or at least not offensive)...

Lotster · 23/10/2008 19:21

As I said I didn't read it all. Sorry maybe me just assuming all the "if anyone criticised my breastfeeding I'd tell em to fuck off stuff" was gonna go nuclear...

It often happens on here.

Lotster · 23/10/2008 19:26

Bitty isn't meant to be a nasty little word, designed to make the BF'r feel uncomfortable - it's was one that the comedians thought sounded appropriate word for a posh twat to use when, as a grown man, he fancied some booby/nip nip/mummy milk or whatever!

If people do use it, probably they think it's a chance to use a word they find funny, and look funny at the same time. Usually they aren't the types who stop to think they've offended you. Not that quoting comedy shows makes you look like anything but a twat unfortunately

LittleBellaLugosi · 23/10/2008 19:40

Hmm, bitty may not have started out a nasty word designed to make BF mothers feel bad...

but in this context, that's exactly how it's being used.

Witch didn't start out a negative word either.
