Or have I had a sense of humouyr bypass and I seriously need to rediscover it? I know that bf an older baby is unusual but he's not fed that often. He usually says it when I give him his morning feed but it can be at any time. I just don't find it funny at all and I'm getting more and more irritated grrr!!

It's to illustrate dittany, how things are said tongue in cheek but get taken to extremes and turned into offensive remarks.

People are getting offended at the "bitty" remark and others are getting offended at the threats of violence. So I thought perhaps you'd better have something proper to get offended at.

It's sad that everyone on this thread has lost their humour and started being nasty to each other. It's not necessary.

Lordy, I didn't really mean to suggest you bash him round the head - it's just that it's such a pathetic comment for the op's dh to say,the sheer unoriginality would cause me to want to whack him

Don't you just hate that lame, "YOu must have PMT," statement too?

It is an attempt to render any point a woman is trying to make as overemotional and invalid as she is obviously not thinking clearly because of her hormones . I find it's most often used by people who get annoyed that others don't agree with them and their 'humour'.

Saying that PMT thing, to me, is one woman attacking another by trying to make her POV invalid.

Re-read Rhubarb's post - she used this offensive and exasperating expression deliberately, to make a point. She's big enough and ugly enough (actually she's not, she's lovely) to look after herself, but please, people, engage your brains eh?

Oh, Dittany, climb down from whatever hill you are on.

No-one died and made you God, Lord and master of all that is right and wrong.

And FWIW, it went more like this, Stay frosty:

I agree
I agree
I agree
I think you are all taking this far too seriously, just shake it off..
No, your DH is obviously a tosspot
You care about your DH and stamp on other people's feeling
etc etc

Seems to me, on this thread, you are right if you shout loudly and (jokingly) threaten violence.

Cool.

No not rude, just funny. Maybe it's cause I'm a northerner? that I can actually take jokes about myself and my sex and I can give as good as I get.

But yes, I was making a point. A point clearly lost. Never mind.

As you were ladies!

SOrry, Ditanny, I don't agree.

THis has nothing to do with my DH.

I think the term Bitty is totally fine. I don't find it offensive.

Why is that so hard for you to believe?

Do you need a man to justify your feelings?

I don't.

DP used to come in and say "Mooooo" when I was expressing, which I must admit used to make me laugh out loud. .

Thankfully mine just stuck to references to the Milk Bar. It could have been worse (this was pre-Little Britain though).

I think I mentioned that dh used to be a dairy farmer, so he knew EVERYTHING about bf of course! I drew the line at calling dd Daisy.

Report
WinkyWinkola · 22/10/2008 16:43

Oh. I thought dairy cows weren't allowed to feed their calves? The calves were put onto formula and the cows were milked for us humans?

I'm a northerner too. Doesn't mean I have to accept crap, lame jokes about my gender from anyone.
