To want DH off the bed when there are no sheets on it

I've taken the sheets off the bed and just the mattress and pillow protectors are on there now, which I'm not washing as I washed them last weekend, and I don't want the protectors every week, but wash sheets once a week.

As soon as I've taken off the sheets, DH lays down on the bed to play games on his phone on the protector that I wasn't planning to wash and in his day clothes. Then later gets up and lies back down without even a top on before he's about to get in the shower.

AIBU is controlling to ask him not to do this? He's refused to get up saying I should just leave him alone but I'm the one who washes the sheets and he was on my pillow!

I couldn't get worked up about this, assuming he's not covered in mud.

Edenmum2 · Today 14:07

I mean I couldn’t get worked up about it. Very intrigued by ‘day clothes’.

araiwa · Today 14:07

I couldn't give less of a fuck

Why bother?

boxgoog · Today 14:08

his day clothes

Sigh.

unclench

Yes YABU

If he’s just finished a workout and is covered in sweat then I could see your point.

Agreed. Unfortunately it sounds like the poor man was just existing...

MissMoneyFairy · Today 14:13

But the protectors go under sheets or pillowcases anyway, if this really happened it's extremely controlling and bossy .

Bandsis · Today 14:13

What exactly do you think is going to happen as a result of his behaviour?

goldielockss · Today 14:14

I get it, OP. Our house is actually very much far from pristine but if I really don’t like the idea of outside clothes being on (but especially in) the bed. And if it’s straight on the mattress then you can’t even wash it.

Its a bit weird in my case as many mumsnetters would think our level of cleanliness (in changing sheets and washing towels) is gross but I still would ask my DH to get off (and help me actually make the bed!)

Sparrowsandbudgies · Today 14:14

Just put the fresh sheets etc straight back on the bed rather than leaving it unmade, job done.

ColdAsAWitches · Today 14:14

He's not doing anything wrong. Unless he's been mud wrestling, a few minutes on a protector won't dirty them, and they'll soon be covered with a sheet anyway.

MellowSubmarine · Today 14:14

I’d be a bit annoyed that, on seeing the unmade bed, he didn’t think to just put some clean sheets on it.

If there was some reason why that couldn’t happen (the only available sheets were still in the dryer or something) I wouldn’t be bothered about this.

LikeAFunkyAvengerTougherThanANinja · Today 14:15

The naked bed should be untouched by humans or animals.

Minasama · Today 14:16

There are two of you in your house and you can’t control what he does.

I completely agree with you and would hate it, but he is an adult as well, it’s his bed too and he has every right to do as he likes and not be nagged at.

You are not his mum and you need to pick your battles. Ask him to change the bed!

Pearlstillsinging · Today 14:17

Ask him to put the clean sheets on, as you remove the dirty ones.

Cosyblankets · Today 14:19

Yes it's controlling

Actually she should stop doing housework while he has time to game.

True. Someone, anyone, needs to put the fresh sheets etc straight on. I never do half a job and leave stuff for later.

OutOfTheOtherSide · Today 14:32

🤣🤣🤣

ChocolateCinderToffee · Today 14:32

It would piss me off too, ot least because he’s lying around while you’re doing housework.

What’s the problem?

Why cant people do housework at different times? Sharing the load doesnt mean you have to do it together.

OneHazelBird · Today 14:40

Yes you are controlling.

I’m guessing you don’t wash the sofa covers every time he sits on it in his ‘day clothes’.

Time to get a hobby OP.
